T-mac didn't have to participate in the preseason T-mac also wasn't supposed to play in the first few regular season games. The trainers encourage him to do so taht way he could get his leg strong. T-mac took 2 weeks off early on and now he chooses what games to play and sit. As far as X and O strategy T-mac's game can't cash anything in right now so why would you modify style around the way he play's. Bottomline T-mac has gotten waay more Brownie points than Yao,I see it as a person who loves drama and negative energy. He acts like a eneergy suck ,black hole,He wants the world to revolve around him and not the Team.
no, but i do know about this situation with the rockets. and i know that fran is telling the truth and not simply writing fluff. regardless of what your personal opinions of his work might be . . . in this case he has stepped up and told it like it is.
Lee, the Rocks traded Moses because he was a restricted free agent and signed an offer sheet with Philadelphia. Being a cheap a$$ organization at the time and not wanting to pay what Moses was worth, the Rockets did a deal with the Sixers and didn't get diddly squat. From NBA.com: Malone became a restricted free agent after the 1981-82 season and signed an offer sheet with the Philadelphia 76ers on September 2. Houston then exercised its right of first refusal and matched the offer, only to trade Malone to the Sixers on September 15 for Caldwell Jones and a 1983 first-round draft choice. http://www.nba.com/history/players/mmalone_bio.html That was the equivalent, in my opinion, to the Grizzlies giving away Pau to the Lakers. Heck, it was worse. The Rockets were presented with a rape and asked how far the offending party would like them to bend over. They also handed the Sixers a championship. We ended up with Rodney McCray, who was a very nice player, but no freakin' Moses Malone. Just sayin'...
I think players stand around when Tmac has the ball because they are afraid of bringing an extra defender to him in case he is driving the ball. That is the problem with an ISO offense, players do not know when to move or when to be a target at the 3pt line. In a motion offense or a read and react offense everyone is moving, and you don't worry about it. It is purely a style clash between Rick and Tmac. DD
And T-mac has been willing to pass. That has been a problem this year too me. He's looking to pass instead of looking for his shots. Plenty of games where this team needed a score and he looked to pass rather than looking for his own shot.
Yup I agree. I can see him looking to pass 1st at the beginning of the game but not the whole game. Most of the game he needs to look for his own shot. The problem is when he gets the ball he sits there and waits to read the defense which allows the defense to set up on him. If he attacked as soon as he got the ball he would have an easier time especially since he has lost a step. That was the big difference in the Philly game at the beginning. He was attacking as soon as he touched the ball, later on in the game he stopped doing that and he started struggling.
I think he's been inconsistent. The last game against OKC he did a pretty good job of looking to set up Scola but that hasn't always been the case in previous games. Mostly he's got a bad habit of hanging onto the ball for way too long and jacking up really bad shots. I'm not sure that he and Adelman see eye to eye on the offense.
Mac's head is just not in basketball.....If you watch really closely to that last game when he shot the ball 20 times he did not have a limp that you could notice....I know someone will say that he just went 8 for 20 but keep in mind that 4 of the shots went down and came out which would have put him over 50% for the game.....Daryl will have to try and find someone who wants cap space for 2010 and move him...
EXCATLY He did it against Thunder. But I think it is up to the coach to tell him :Look to score T-Mac...
Yes, but his defense was really bad in that game too, he has not played team defense well this year......at all. DD
With T-Mac, you know he is not a defensive player. You know he doesn't care about defense. He will only play it when he has to (in the playoffs) and that knee makes him slower... HOPEFULLY those 2 weeks will help. Last time they did help, but he came back too early. He needs to take his time now.
What's sad is, he was a TERRIFIC defensive player his final year in Toronto and his first season and a half in Orlando. He fell into an unfortunate trap - having to be Mister Everything on offense with the Magic led to taking plays off on defense to pace himself and conserve energy. Now it's ingrained. Van Gundy got decent effort out of him, but.... What can you do.
