Just saw a review. Pattinson is exactly what he always is: Emo. I'll watch it, but it's a hard sell to get me to watch it in a theater.
After 170 reviews, it's sitting at 87% on Rotten Tomatoes. Most of the negative reviews are about the movie not being kid-friendly, being too depressing in tone / mirroring the current state of the real world and there not being enough color. I'm still sold. Might not be a day 1 trek to the theater, but seems good.
I haven't read all the reviews but I saw that it pulls a lot from the The Long Halloween. If that's the case, Pattinson's performance won't matter too much since the story could carry him. It should work really well in a live action setting.
The Long Halloween was interesting as an animated movie, but I don't know how it fits into the modern comic movie ethos, not enough Super Hero stuff. The villain is not that great either, not at the level of a Joker. Will be interesting to see how it goes over, I will probably enjoy it, but it will be a total departure from the current comic book movies. I think Pattinson performance is key to taking the movie up a level. Will probably do well if it is more like Batman vs SAW.
Wasn't Long Halloween already borrowed from on the Dark Knight? I thought it was Long Halloween + Killing Joke?
If more Killing Joke I think it will be a good detective type movie, more in line with The Dark Knight. I need to watch the trailer again.
People are saying Zoe has the best performance. Emo Pattinson is emo. And, yes. I've seen Lighthouse and Tenet. He's just not a good actor.
Cant think of a more emo character than Batman. Cries about dead parents eternally. Wears black. Goes out at night. Loner. Stews in a dark cave.
Ok, now I'm actually interested.. Robert Pattinson’s ‘The Batman’ Debuts On Rotten Tomatoes With Near Next To Perfect Score https://heroichollywood.com/robert-...PGkfqAvkVDzKLC5bfRMZYOjF4js3tT1b4gVNFoUrIDV5w Robert Pattinson’s The Batman has received its Rotten Tomatoes score. DC’s highly-anticipated The Batman is finally set to hit cinemas later this week! It looks like the wait was well worth it as the film has been highly-praised all across the board, garnering near-universal acclaim. We praised the film for its performances, tight story, and moody atmosphere, ultimately landing on a rare 9.5/10. ‘The Batman’ Cinema Standee Spotlights Robert Pattinson’s Dark Knight As reviews continue to trickle in from across the world, Rotten Tomatoes has compiled the first initial score for the Robert Pattinson-led film, and wow, is it high! The film has received a nearly perfect score. As always, the rating can change in the coming days as other reviews get added to the site, though it’s likely that The Batman will continue to reign in the low-90s range.
Interesting and it's a shot across the bow of the MCU, they are going to have to start going more R than PG or at least get into some darker topics. Still want to see how it does box office wise, but DC could possibly stake out this type of Super Hero movie as their blueprint which they have seemed to be trending toward anyway, they just needed some goods scripts and directors. Now reboot the GL with John Stewart and get that Black Panther type appeal. Use Aldis Hodge as GL and reboot the entire DCU around GL and The JL and print money.
Do you mean like a similar twist or that the take on riddler is more of Hush? Either way it seems like they put a lot of focus on the grounded story building that made the TDK popular vs the jam packed character driven plot of the DCEU movies
It would be nice if they spun a connected universe out of anything and stop enclosing their different mediums. They have the Arrowverse on WB, Snyderverse with the recent movies and I guess Peacemaker, Joker standalone movie, now this. Put it all together, gang.
