How can I load a picture on here from my desktop? The reason my pics don't work are cause the geocities website keeps shutting down cause of file transfer or some crap. I only have a limited number of page views an hour i guess.
Got my Test Drive tixs today at Mike Calvert Toyota, was able to get 4 no problem. BTW, did anybody go to Jrivas82's thread listed above? Check out the post that was posted there, there are some haters in the BBS.
We should meet at the park across the street for CC.net parties before every game. I'll pitch in for the banner.
First off, I wonder if the Rockets decided to post some construction pics after I decided to................as Kam put it so kindly, whine about the lack of them? And for all of those who were sick of my whining on the lack of construction pics, sorry, but I am about to do it again. And for good reason too. While I like the way the arena is turning out, one thing is beginning to bother me. That is pertaining to the front entrance of the building. The Rockets in the beginning had a spectacular retro warehouse look planned for the exterior. But this idea was soon scrapped in favor of a less expensive exterior and to spend more money on the inside, which I undertsand and I am in favor of. The design that replaced the retro theme is the current one you now see. The porblem is, as I take a look at the photos, I come across the video board that is supposed to be out front, which is SO SMALL. In fact, it looks like a small cheap version of the LARGE "CURVY" impressive display originaly planned. The entrance was speicifically designed for this type of flashy board display, not this tiny piece of crap. Maybe I am wrong and they just havent finished the entire board. I sure hope so, otherwise I believe this is one of the budget cuts for the arena. Can someone in the know clear this up for me? Is this tiny board the final version, or is it not all up yet. the original plan complete with Large board is that all?
Hmm...you're right. The outside thing looks smaller than in the model. But I still think the arena is beautiful! And so is the area surrounding it! Man...Houston is beautiful!
One more thing To those of you wondering where that giant "Toyota Center" logo will appear across the roof................its time to bust out the Bi-focals. If you squint and look closely at the roof in the second pic I posted in my last posted, you will see in the middle section of the roof stretching from Polk St (by the hotel) to the garage, tiny guidelines and marks outlining where the logo and name will be placed on the roof. And I am not talkin about the cones around the halo of the roof.... look very carefully and you will see what I am talking about.
As stated by me, and clarified by Jeff, it appears as if that is one of the boards being used. Apparently it was supposed to originally be one big one, but with city regulation issues, I suppose they changed it to a small 'Info' board or stat board of some kind and perhaps a large screen (video maybe, but doubtful for the live shots; Jeff said the screen could be updated every 8 seconds at the earliest; I hope this changes, even if it's post-game highlights). But we will wait and see on a larger board... and I too, tigereye, am not very impressesd with the typical office building concrete style; but I gues it fits Houston perfectly. Could you post a picture of the original retro look?
Ask and you shall recieve my friend The original plan for the exterior of Toyota Center, designed to mimic MMP. (SEE Polk St facade and compare it to Texas Ave facade of MMP, you will see what I mean)
Wow, that's something. I might have seen it, but don't really remember it. It seems to really mimic Harris County Jail. I like that entrance better. I have a feeling a lot of us might not hate, but resent the new arena. Waaaaayyyyy too much emphasis was put on the rich bastards. I really hope it turns out good for ALL fans. I don't think anyone can argue they overdid it on the suite amenities.
