Play it again, pants: Levi's introduces iPod-compatible jeans WASHINGTON (AFP) - Jeans giant Levi's is hoping to woo fashionistas and music aficionados alike with its new iPod-compatible RedWire DLX jeans, due out this fall. With a joystick remote control built into the watch pocket, the new jeans will allow wearers to play, pause, track forward or back and adjust the volume on their iPods without having to take them out of their pockets. A separate pocket will house and conceal the bulge of the iPod, while a built-in retractable headphone unit is designed to prevent tangled wires. A red conductive ribbon will keep wearers connected while allowing them to remove the iPod from their pockets to view the screen, the company said. "The Levi's RedWire DLX jean is the latest extension of the Levi's brand leadership position, by merging fashion and technology that provides consumers with the most innovative way to enhance their portable digital music lifestyle," Robert Hanson, Levi's US brand president, said in a statement. http://news.yahoo.com/s/afp/2006011...zo0EdCs0NUE;_ylu=X3oDMTA3cjE0b2MwBHNlYwM3Mzg-
Vista will run on the new Macs, XP will not. http://www.betanews.com/article/XP_Wont_Run_on_Intel_MacBook_iMac/1137003330
Thanks for that- that artice is by far the most succint summary of what will work and what won't, and why. 32-bit Vista will work, but the 64-bit version won't because Apple doesn't support that yet. But in my opinion, it can't be long before they do, because there's no doubt they're going to use the Merom chip once it's out later this year, and then everything will be at least two cores and 64 bits. Once Apple and Vista are both 64 bit and both using EFI, a double-boot Mac will be a reality. And this summer a Mac that double-boots to 32 bit Vista will be possible. This sentence was by far the most surprising for me: "For its part, Microsoft encouraged Apple to build hardware compatible with Windows." That is very, very interesting to me. At first I thought both companies wouldn't want these FrankenMacs that double boot. But on the other hand, perhaps this is the win-win situation both want? Being able to boot into Windows could convince a lot of people on the fence to buy Mac hardware. And MS doesn't lose anything if they're still selling operating systems to this hardware. This is a very, very interesting year in computing, both with this Intel/Mac and the upcoming processors.
Apple takes a nice little stab at PCs running intels... http://www.youtube.com/w/Apple-Intel-Ad?v=BmDtg4GHQdg&search=apple Gotta hand it to Apple, they know how to advertise well.

As a former Apple Tech Support guy I can safely conform that there are TONS of things you can do on a Mac that we never supported. If you have an issue with Vista on a Mac you will be in Ping Pong tech support hell. Apple - "Call M$, we don't support Vista" M$ - "Call Apple, we don't support Mac Hardware."
