if we get Amare I don't mind Rafer continuing being our starting point guard. With so much weapons he'll have Rajon Rondo type numbers. Im just going to miss Brooks quickness and scoring. But dam with Yao and Amare downlow, I see an unstoppable combination.
I rather get Barbosa than Amare, with all of the players we are throwing to them would not be worth it.
there has been no rumors what so ever about heinrich and still homers are acting like he is on the radar! stick with what is rumored right now please!
Im 100% rockets fan but Yao and Amar'e wouldnt be unstoppable.... Put them up vs a run and gun team and a pf who likes to shoot 3's and we will have a problem....
but Rondo has a conscious. He never plays out of character. He knows he cant shoot 3s so he only took 19 last season. Idk if Rafer has that in him. He might, but we'll have to see
Hinrich would be an upgrade. He is not worse than Rafer. A small upgrade relative to his contract but still an upgrade. Hinrich though is still NOT 100% healthy so no thanks to that. The question with Amare is would he have a better attitude on a new team, and NOT complain about lack of touches playing next to Yao? For the best or worse, Yao is the face of the franchise.
Why is Phoenix so hell bent on shipping out Amare Stoudamire anyway?? I may be behind on the rumor mill, but isn't Amare still an elite PF? Also, if we do get Amare, I think it'll be fruitless without someone to get them the ball. I pray that if this happens, T-Mac (flame on!) gets a chance to play with him and Yao. Mac could have a much more reduced role as distributor and third option.
The Rockets need the following (in this order): 1. PG 2. Efficient scoring swingman 3. Big, athletic backup Center Trading for another PF brings the least amount of improvement for the team. Sure, bringing in Amare or another All Star PF would help but when Scolandry are good for 21/13 combined then how much more production will you actually get? Talk about least bang for the buck.
I agree. Amare showed his selfishness and me-first attitude when Shaq came over. Will he all of sudden change knowing Yao is our first option? And I just hate to give up Brooks for someone who may have a bad attitude and decided he wanted out. I'm just not sure about giving up Brooks, especially when we are weak at the point guard spot. What happens when Rafer has his usual hamstring problems which has been happening lately? It's not like Rafer is getting any younger. What would have been great is if Steve Francis was healthy, we could have someone who can penetrate and throw alley-oops to Amare. Of course that is a pipe dream, but we just don't have the depth at point guard to give up Brooks. Rafer is not a penetrator. We need a penetrating guard (like Brooks) to play with Amare, not Rafer.
I simply don't understand all the Hinrich talk here. Why would we want him? His career stats are only slightly better than Rafer. Why don't we just go ahead and offer up Yao Ming for JJ Redick while we're at it?
Losing Brooks and Landry will be like Trading Cassell and Horry [not as drastic but the whole morgaging the future thing] Rocket River
This thread doesn't give the title any justice. This should have been put elsewhere. Nothing but what we already know.
Horry and Cassell were traded for a past his prime Barkley that only had a couple of good years left in him. Trading Landry and Brooks for Amare is nothing like that. Amare is only 26 and his prime years should be just starting. We could be cementing our future with Scola, Amare and Yao manning the PF / C spots. Imagine having arguably the 2 best centers in the NBA on 1 team. Imagine one of those centers is also one of hte elite power forwards in the game. To put the icing on the cake, Scola is clearly a tier 2 power forward. This move would solidify those two positions for many years to come.
Sorry, I just don't see this comparison. While I do think that it really hurts us at the PG for this season, and that a Yao/Amar'e front court may not work, neither Brooks nor Landry are nearly as vital to the success of the team as the referenced group. Moreover, neither of them currently have much of a future as a full time starter in the league, while we'd be attaining a star level player. The standard axiom in trades is that the team getting the most talented player wins. In this case, we'd win. It would also seem to make the team a more attractive destination for free agents.
Return of the Towers DREAM - Player by AMARE SAMPSON - Player by YAO Petersen - Player by Scola ? Not as good but . . . .similar concepts Rocket River
