What if you had the NBA hold a competition in the competing city before the ASW where you had a dunk contest between local players. The winner takes a place in the NBA Dunk contest. Might make some of the NBA players lift their game if you got some of these ridiculous street ball dunkers in there trying to show them up. Only down sides I see are that the NBA wouldn't want a non NBA player to win (Investing time in someone you can really use beyond that weekend) or the added thing of, you don't REALLY know the background of someone that basically walks in off the street. Would be pretty bad for the NBA if their new dunk champion turned out to be someone with major issues off the court.
