You lefties never heard of the term"Brother or Sister in Christ"? This is a non story, another attempt to create something out of nothing by you guys. I'm pretty sure if that governor is Muslim and he said this to the people of Alabama " I'm a Muslim and if you are not one, I consider you an infidel and Allah will punish you", you lefties would have been okay with it and even cheered him on, I could be wrong but you guys had a good track record of bashing Christians and appeasing Muslims so I know I'm right!
I love how the liberals are attempting to seize this false opportunity to insult two of their favorite targets: 1) Christianity 2) Republicans
Ya that's the only thing that can be considered bothersome. To me, his point seems to be that non-Christians should be Christians or else they will be viewed differently (lower). Coming from the leader of a state makes it a dumb thing to say.
That's the big issue to me and it should be to everyone (including Christians). I have a feeling some of the "big deal" folks in here are just chronic posters who don't have anything to contribute but can't help but reply to every thread they see.
Why? He isn't trying to pass a law to make you be Christian is he? That I would have a problem with. But wanting you to share his faith? Do you think most people of faith don't want you to believe with them?
If a man of faith doesn't believe in his beliefs enough to want you to share them then I question whether he has any faith at all.
Which explains my problem with faith. I get that most politicians are people of faith and on some level they probably want others to share that faith but when you're an elected official you need to filter your language. What he said absolutely excludes people that do not have faith or who have faith in a different magic man in the sky than this guy.
Excludes them from what? Edit: All he said is they are not part of a faith-based family that they have already voluntarily opted not to be a part of.
No, if the Muslim governor had said that it would have been a story! Saying you are an infidel and Allah will punish you is differrent from saying just Christians are his family. Do you see the difference?
Atheist: Christianity? Hah! Worshiping some stupid magic man in the sky! No thanks to being a part of this mythical family of Christ lol! Christian Governor at a church: People who believe in God are a part of my faith family. People who don't aren't. Atheist: OUTRAGE! EXCLUSIONIST! HOW DARE YOU SAY I'M NOT A PART OF YOUR FAITH BASED FAMILY!
Pretty stupid to say something like this when you're in a high public office. No reason to further separate and divide people, especially as you're supposed to be leading them.
I realize he hasn't done any actions yet...All I'm saying is it would make me uneasy for what he might do in the future...especially after seeing what states like Texas have done in regards to their education curriculum.
Do you think Obama is a man of faith or do you think he faked it? Does it make you uneasy that he went to church for all those years? If you have a problem with his policies, I get it! But that is more to do with his political positions than his faith. Unfortunately people of faith break down across both political lines and across the line between rational and irrational just like the rest of America.
