I don't think the throwbacks the wore wore the 80s/90s "et" jerseys. They were the '71 jerseys with the gold block lettering.

Whatever the color just take Rockets out of the front of the jersey and put Houston back on the jersey please!
I hope so. We should have never changed the logo from the Clutch City days. We went pinstripe for a few years, and then tried to gear the current logo towards the Chinese market. Look at the classic jerseys in the league (Knicks, Lakers, Spurs, Bulls), and you'll notice that over time they've only made minor, almost unnoticeable adjustments to the logo and color scheme. I loved the yellow, red, white combination, as it was simple and easy on the eye.
Yeah I don't understand wtf this guy is thinking. If Rockets got a new jersey, his sales would go up like crazy. Maybe they don't make that much cash with jerseys and clothing? And more cash with TV viewers (most likely americans) and arena attendance? I don't know, a jersey is really expensive, however if the NBA wanted to get a lot of cash from there, they would do like soccer, and change everyteams jersey every year. That works amazingly.
Uh... Right? Unless you mean every couple of weeks, it's because we didn't wear our throwbacks this season, like most of the league. Only the Cavs do it.
Its a good idea. Most teams have a third alternate jersey and we only had the red away jerseys and the white home jerseys
I think with the Yao era fading away, it would be great to get a redesign for our jerseys. I like the color scheme, but the jersey style is already dated. I would prefer to see a standard jersey style like the Lakers or Knicks currently use.
Our championship year jerseys are classic, all of the rockets apparel I buy is the oldschool colors and logo. I hate our current jerseys and logo with a passion.
The "classic" logo kind of sucks by today's standards. It's dated. You want to talk about uncreative? That logo was super simple. Not that that's bad, but if that's one of the criticisms of the current logo then it apples to the old one as well. Don't let nostalgia cloud your judgment. You want to know why we changed? It's because we had just won 2 championships and still, nobody outside of Houston wanted to buy Rockets gear. The ketchup and mustard was a tough sell and Les wasn't cashing in on merch sales like the thought he should be. Going back to the old logo might please a lot of Rockets fans, but I doubt it helps the pocket book (the ultimate decider), especially when they can sell the current unis AND throwbacks at the same time. Of course, if they did go back to the old logo, they'd update it. People like to point out how the Pistons went back to their old logo/colors but they didn't do it exactly. They just took the basic concept (red basketball, blue border, team name in the middle) and created an new logo using that criteria. The font and colors were more similar to the ones used in their "horse" logo than the ones used in their championship days. If the Rockets ever went back to the "classic" design, I suspect they'd follow a similar course. Yellow basketball, red border, "Rockets" in the middle. But they'd update the colors, the design of the basketball, and the font. Without seeing how they would update it, I can't say whether I think it would look any good or not. But it would have been a mistake for Detroit to return to the exact same logo from the 80s and I think it would be a mistake for us to do the same. On another note, I don't love the current unis nor do I hate them. I just don't want to be a team that changes logos/unis relatively often. For those that say it's time for a change, we've only been wearing these jerseys for 6 years. I'd rather just keep them then get into a habit of changing them every 5-7 years when the newness wears off.
^^^ good post cannonball. Too many ppl here just want to throw out out current logo and uni's when we have only had them 6 seasons! We at least had the dildo rocket and pajama's for 8 and these look way better. How can anyone think our logo is not unique, its a big R thats also a rocket ship blasting off. It is awesome and doesn't need to go anywhere but up in the rafters after we win championships wearing them. I love the fact all our teams except the Dynamo don't have words in them, Astros star on the cap, the Texans bull and the Rocket R. Now the official logo's for 'stros and rox do have the city and team name but the star and the R is all you need to know what team it is and is what I wear to sport my teams. I hope we keep the current logo and uni's for a long time in every Houston franchise. I do want an alternate soon! There's an awesome design that I guess was made by krs1, thats what it says at the bottom. Its the old jerseys in charcoal grey with Houston on the front in silver. Favorite by far!

I remember when the Rockets drafted Ralph Sampson... I got out my son's crayons and drew up a uniform with a rocket graphic on the side panel of the pants and jersey. This seems like such a natural choice.... mine were certainly better than the angry dildo!
I have to say the throwbacks are way better. Hopefully they bring it back this season for at least a couple of games.
