No, please enlighten me. Does the fact that we went to war in 2003 render any opinions pre-war meaningless? I could understand if you meant pre-9/11 and post-9/11. We've been talking about the war with Iraq in 2002.
I suppose those 11 mobile bio/chem labs buried next to the ammo dump south of Baghdad was just an oversight? I dare you to read this link. http://meria.idc.ac.il/journal/2003/issue1/jv7n1a5.html
I know you are not stupid, just incredibly biased. Don't force me to talk down to you. 2002 was a year that we spent pleading with Saddam to comply with the UN mandates, and the '91 ceasefire agreement. Saddam could have easily avoided this war. 2003 is the year we said "time is up", comply or die. Saddam chose death. During 2002, we worked throught the UN, and multilateralism was working. 2003 is the year that the French, Germans, and Russians put their short term economic interests ahead of Western culture's collective security, so the UN became meaningless. Even if you don't agree with my conclusions, I know you see how this VERY FLUID political situation changed quickly. G.H.W. Bush could supported multilateralism in regards to the Iraq problem last year, AND SO DID G.W.
Carry on laughing boy. Almost to a man, those who are "anti-war" are ignorant. I dared him to drop his bias, and educate himself.
And this single quote proves that you are just as biased as the "anti-war" crowd whose "bias" you constantly complain about in your posts on this BBS.
Wow, I was totally unaware that Western Culture as we know it was in danger. I supported this war to free Iraq, but now I have another reason. Apparently Saddam was gonn lead the ultimate Jihad and force us all to become muslim. Phew, we dodged one hell of a bullet. The next step is to just nuke the whole mid-east and avoid any future problems altogether.
I think the Marines are a little busy FIGHTING A WAR right now. No WMD's were used in this war because Special Ops took out that ability before the first bomb was dropped, not because they don't have any. Ask any former Iraqi scientist living in the US. And yes, we sold weapons to Iraq during the Iraq/Iran war because at the time Iran was a bigger threat to us. If you're suggesting we have no ground to stand on because of that, I'd have to disagree. If you sold a shot gun to your neighbor 20 years ago and today he breaks into your house and points it at you, do you have the right to take him out? Of course!
And another thing, dammit! france, russia and germany sold Iraq weapons etc. AFTER the UN drafted the resolution for them to disarm.
Here's a plot for you arno. It certainly appears as though the US provided Iraq with a lot of weapons compared to some countries.
johnheath: The low debates with low debaters was not a reference to your sophomoric posting style -- it was a reference to the fact that talking to you's like talking to a brick wall. No matter what anyone says to you, you come back with something akin to "Nuh-UNH!!" I've responded to every "new" point you raised. 03's different than 02??? Naw! Pull me up a chair! Is today different than yesterday, too? I'm learning so much here! I have good reason to believe that any argument with you is destined to become a "pissing contest" and that, due to my position in the debate, it is I and not you who will be berated for my 'bad behavior.' As such, I'm done talking to you. Have a fabulous life.
Reminds me of this Onion article: "This war will not put an end to anti-Americanism; it will fan the flames of hatred even higher"? It won't. "It will harden the resolve of Arab states to drive out all Western (i.e. U.S.) influence"? Not really. "A war against Iraq is not only morally wrong, it will be an unmitigated disaster"? Sorry, no, I disagree. "To take over a country and impose one's own system of government without regard for the people of that country is the very antithesis of democracy"? You are completely wrong. Trust me, it's all going to work out perfect. Nothing bad is going to happen. It's all under control. Why do you keep saying these things? I can tell when there's trouble looming, and I really don't sense that right now. We're in control of this situation, and we know what we're doing. So stop being so pessimistic. Look, you've been proven wrong, so stop talking. You've had your say already. Be quiet, okay? Everything's fine. You're wrong.
And I suppose you've never heard of the phenomenon of a union member voting with their union despite their leanings otherwise.
Not only that, our special ops hid those weapons so well, we can't find them now! It will take years to find them we are told according to that other thread. If you're talking about the Iraqi defector the Bushies like to quote so much, Hussein Kamel, they accidentally left out the part where he said they destroyed their WMD as of the time he had left Iraq.
