I think it is paying time for the Nets after what they did to us or maybe I should say for what we gifted them in the Griffin for Jefferson trade.
i have a hard time understanding how people would actually think collins helps this team more so than howard. Even if you do believe that collins is a good post defender (which is up for debate), he cannot bring the other things that howard brings, like mid range shooting, passing, etc.
As much as I'd like to part with Howard, losing him with only Padgett, Novak and Hayes as our pf (and Deke as our only backup C) would be a huge hit. If we can package up a couple more players and get a real pf, then great but I don't see where we have enough pieces to make that happen.
Two years ago, against Little D in the playoffs, if we had Juwan, we would have won that series. Juwan is a professional, a veteran leader, and a classy guy. He got shafted in the preseason but continued to be a good teamate and ultimately contributed to many of our wins.
I don't think the Nets have anything interesting to offer us. Juwan steps it up most of the time when we need to. Even though he has several areas where he is lacking, he is very dependable and consistent in others. I'm really not sure if we should fiddle with the team as it is now.. I feel that we have some good chemistry going and all our players seem to fit well with one another. Once Novak and VSpan develop (which hopefully they do), we will have a really nice bench. Padgett may be on odd-man out next year, and Deke will be gone.. so if we can somehow get a good backup center, I will take that.
and this right here is the sole logical reason to NOT trade him to the NJ Nets. we are very (VERY) shallow as far as big men go..unless we get one in return that brings what Howard has brought in his backup role...we dont do it. We have Yao, Deek, chuckie, Juwon, and partially Shane (in certains matchups)...and in the future hopefully Novak...but he wont cut it as a bigman for the purposes of this discussion. That is four and a half players to cover two positions. not enough if we lose one of them without getting a replacement for him. Im not ready to discount the possibility that he can stay effective....this is a relatively new situation for him....the possibility exists he could keep this up more often than not...which would be fine with me.
Sorry about my last post......sweated out the Bears game to make my fantasy football playoffs......I was wired after I won and couldn't get to sleep....I sure need to donate again to show my appreciation for this forum.....I see juwans stock is deceptive at the moment, maybe now is the time for one last CD miracle...... P.s.......Common is whack for sure......any chance Scarface will make a Old Navy commercial? OH hell No.......Not Jesse James!
At 250 lbs Bonzi can guard the low post, so JHo is expendable, assuming that Bonzi is still on the team in a weak.
Can you prove Boki is a shooter? i cant remember that dont you remember..boki was a great shooter, in practice. its shooting in the games that he had problems with
We can always have a 3-way. In fact, acquiring McInnis would be great. With Wells, Sura and McInnis we would have approximately 9M in expiring contracts, which is extremely valuable to a contender.
V-Span, Head, Alston, JL3, add in mcinnis, will be in the Guinness Book of World Records for most PG's in 1 team
I sincerely hope I am taking your statement out of contest. This guy has been kicked off every team for which he has played because of attitude problems. The Clips, Cavs and now the Nets all have found him distasteful.
can we just get 1 quality/competent pg instead of these 5 useless ones? it's the quality, not the quantity that matters! same rule apply to girls!
CD needs to go after cory magette he wants out feel this is what we are missing someone who goes to the hole and looks for fouls and plays hard all the time plus he is 6'7" no midget.
I should've worded it better. I was imlpying with the next sentence that having his expiring contract would be great. McInnis the player, I don't care of he is worth anything or not. Think about it this way. Mid-season, a team thoguht they were a contender but are SO far out of the playoff picture, they decide to rebuild now. Dump a veteran's contract. What do you know? Houston has 9M in expiring contracts. Here are some possibilities: - Rashard Lewis - Mike Miller - Raef Lafrentz, although unlikely - Magliore - Donyell Marshall - Mike Bibby - PJ Brown - Tony Battie - The BBS's wet dream fantasy, Mike James - Kenny Thomas There are just examples off the top of my head. Please refrain from telling me which ones are ridiculous and which ones we would never want. Chances are, at least one of the mentioned players can help this team get over the hump. I, for example, am interested in seeing if the Sonics decide to dump Ray and Lewis at the deadline. I would also kill to see a line-up of Yao, Rashard, Battier, T-Mac and Alston. That would also give us a great line-up without T-Mac: Yao, Lewis, Battier, Wells, Alston. Expirings and a duture pick is a very tempting package for a team looking to rebuild by dumping contracts.
