Like it or not, Juwan is the back-up PF of this team right now. Padgett and Novak are worse than Juwan. Not saying Juwan is da man, but our 4 is that bad. If we trade him, we need a servicible 4 back, and I dont think that is happening with Nets.
I don't like Howard, but he is a contributing member of the team....and unless it is a deal that improves the Rockets, I would not do it. DD
Uncle Cliffy turns 40 this week and just had knee surgery - no thanks! Howard for Jeff McInnis, Josh Boone and Hassan Adams is the deal I would push for. McInnis is a goner getting the Bulls/Tim Thomas treatment. Boone doesn't play and hasn't looked very good when he did play so i'm fairly confident we could pry him away but I doubt we would be able to get both Boone and Wright. I said it before the draft and i'll still say it now: Hassan Adams will be a good player in this league. He's basically a close of Desmond Mason with a high ceiling, a ton of athletic ability and he plays so much bigger than he really is. I really think he could be a solid 2-3 defensive stopper that can be relied on, much like Hayes, to provide that extra rebounding and defensive edge you really don't expect for a guy that size in addition to his scoring ability. He attacks the basket, takes high percentage shots and gets to the FT line. Sign me up. Just look at what he's done for the Nets in the two games they've actually given him at least 10 minutes. 14 minutes - 8 points (4-4 FG), 4 rebounds (3 offensive), 1 block, 1 steal 23 minutes - 16 points (6-9 FG), 8 rebounds (4 offensive) You mean to tell a player like that couldn't play for us? It's not his fault Vinsanity and RJ play 40 minutes a night.
People, Juwan isn't going to continue playing well. I'm as grateful for the last 2 games as anyone, but come March or April his tank will be on "E". At that point Padgett will be better. If we are to be a contender in the playoffs it won't happen with Juwan as a serious rotation player. On the other hand I don't want to dump Juwan for nothing because he is filling a role at the moment while Chuck finds out where his head is. If I felt better about Chuck I'd say pull the trigger ASAP.
Keep J.H. Don't trade for N.J.'s minor players because we are not likely to get anything better from them. He is trying hard and we need him right now.
At least there's a team out there that wants Juwan Howard. Juwan's played well lately, but when is the ole Juwan gonna show up? The Juwan Howard who steps into the game and magically makes leads disappear? Nothing against the guy personally, but this is business. I don't know what it is. Juwan in, Houston's lead gone: boom! Getting anybody we want in return...now, that's the challenge.
Why are any of you trying to save the owner money? I don't get it. We actually NEED his contract, if we want to trade for anyone of value that could play in the rotation. If Juwan has value to us, THAT'S when you need to trade him, because others will want to trade for him. So, if he's playing well, and someone's PF has an injury, and they think that Howard will be the bridge to making the playoffs, then we might get something for him, although probably we'd have to throw in another player. It won't be for another PF ... which is, of course, what we really need. But, maybe we'll get a trading chit or draft pick for someone we need. So, his greatest value, IMHO, is to be packaged with someone else for a backup center, SG or PG, and preferably a high draft pick in next years draft. The pick is the most important thing. Next year's draft will be stocked, and give us someone who could help us, just like Sam and Horry did in our last championship run. For instance, I don't see us getting AI right now, but if we wanted to, we'd have to have a lot of salaries, and without Howard's, we could never get there. We need to save him for the right trade.
Are you crazy? The nets want nothing to do with Mcinnis. Why would you add our first rounder in a draft that is going to be extremely deep for Cliff Robinson, who is hurt, and a player the nets want to throw away. Im not even sure I would do the deal for Howard alone for those two.
Even with Howard's salary it would still involve us including T-Mac in any deal of that magnitude which simply wont happen. I don't like your idea of holding out for the unknown. We all know what we're getting in Howard and right now he's overachieving on a good team which fortunately for us has a few teams slightly interested. Now is the time to move him and being picky probably isn't an option. Sure, you don't give him away for nothing but any deal involving a younger player and some cap relief makes sense since this is probably our last chance to ever get anything of value for him given the way his game is declining.
Until you guys come up with an impact player straight up for JHo, wouldn't it be better to use him as a package for an impact piece for years to come? I can't believe some of you want to keep him----but then again alot of you wanted to keep our pick......and I seem to notice the Battier trades have subsided.
But Juwan IS an impact player now. Also what kind of "future impact player" woudl anyone give for him at his age? Adams? Boone? Nothing but a couple of projects picks which, history shows, is likely going to be worthless. Even Juwan's historically low +/- with Houston has been improving once he started rebounding. As long as Juwan rebounds the ball, he helps the team. I didn't think it's possible for him to mesh well with Yao, but this past month, he has. I wouldn't risk losing that when the team is going well. I wouldn't midn having Jason Collins, but there's no telling he's fit with this team. He's a GREAT man defender (or was one last season... this season he's kinda struggled), but he's a subpar rebounder and an ATROCIOUS offensive player. He doesn't do ANYTHING well on the offensive end other than maybe setting picks. His PER is 4.4. Yes, 4.4. League average is 15. As it is... I wouldn't lose a currently productive player for one who may not be. I'd rather keep Juwan and shop Bonzi for some help, if he doesn't work out here. .
professional?? did you mean to say he's professional at stealing sunglasses?? no wait, he did get caught, nevermind.
so sad...I actually agree with this. Unless we're getting Josh Boone in return, I can't see how this could benefit us.
