The Nets wouldn't buy him out. They'd just re-trade him.

New Jersey and Detroit expected Denver to sit its players tonight vs. Hornets on cusp of deal, and Denver played them. That halted things.

Doesn't surprise me that NJ has a ichy trigger finger for this one. They have only 10 wins on the season but are only 5 games out of the playoffs surprisingly. Put Billups at the point and is team should jell quick.

Also noted that they will only have 13 players on the roster so I'm wondering if they can pull up two players from the D League for 10 day contracts for Wednesdays game.

With Denver playing Melo and Billlups, no deal will be completed until later tonight, at the earliest.

Denver is winning games. They want to wait till the deadline to give themselves a shot at the playoffs. Cant say I blame them.

Rumor has it the Blazers may acquire Devin Harris from Denver as a secondary move...Denver still hesitant to deal...

Deal will sit tonight. Denver wants to rethink players they are recording from the Nets.

    Billups - Melo - Rip - Lopez.

Melo-Lopez alone is a intimidating duo.

Adding Billups and Rip to the equation? This team will certainly be interesting to say the least.

Pretty sure, they will release him before he even suits up for the Net's.

If Dever lose tonight, I think the deal will go down, and I hear it will contain up to 15 players.

Why? This trade helps create balance in the east and helps the Rockets chances this year I'd they can make a playoff push.

Also dont forget the Rockets hold the Knicks 2012 1st rd pick. If a deal isnt made w NJ he most likely goes to NY and that pick is worse off. Yes NY is now good but they are not trying to make them a contender. Without another star like Melo, NY will most likely taper off and be an 8 seed team.

I think they dont want to end up like Toronto last year, and will trade him for whatever they can get. The longer it goes on, the more teams will try to screw over Denver, as they know Denver has to trade him.
Toronto played this game with Bosh, and looked what happand, they got basically nothing back for him.

NJ has informed sources they will not pay his buyout of 4mil next season and pay him his max 12mil. Money and playing with Melo Lopez and Rip has to sweeten the deal for him. Billups expressed this concern days ago before all of this came out.

The closer they get to the trade deadline, the better the deal has been for them. They also want to hold off as long as possible while their team is still winning games.

Yea, but Melo is getting pissed and they're not going to want to keep him around. Especially if he plays the way he's playing tonight for them.
