Saw this on Reddit today. If we were to land at the #5 & #11 or better do you think we could right the ship and get back on track?

I’ll I’ve heard is how the 27’ class is trash but they look to have multiple guards which is our biggest need. Seems like we could easily come out the draft with a PG in McCoy, Mingo, or combo guard like Joksimovic along with a shooting guard like Bruce Branch. All sizable guards. Do y’all see a couple guys on here you’d like to get our hands on or would you rather trade the? Maybe trade up with Reed or Sengun if someone we really like. I’d keep an eye on university of Houston own stretch 5 Arafan Diane

We missed the boat on the legendary guard class of 26’. 2027 is trash. Abandon all hope.

People keep saying this and it’s just don’t get it. Seems like the same few articles I read claiming this are just aggregated without much detail. Stokes is a terrific prospect. Holt has kicked butt for USA basketball. Anthony Thompson is a wing with a 7’3 wingspan. Crowe averaged 43 ppg in high school, breaking California records. There is a ton of talent in the 2027 draft.

I hope we don't trade our picks for Brown. I'd like to have something to look forward to next year.

The track has been Amen and Sengun for a while now. I think Reed was added to the track this past season. JSJ and Tari are more auxiliary pieces.

Jalen Green and Cam Whitmore were not it. What happens to the rest of the roster does not change this provided nothing significant is given up.

On 5 and 11, that is probably about what the Rockets get. I think the Rockets will either need one of the young guys to develop, win a better pick than 5, or make a trade.

It's actually looking a lot better now, at least in terms of the depth. The following guys who dropped out were listed on CBS' top 80 from April:

    Amari Allen #26
    Flory Bidunga: #25
    Rueben Chinyelu #28
    Juke Harris #31
    Tounde Yessoufou #33
    Tyler Tanner #34
    Milan Momcilovic #39
    Billy Richmond #43
    Malachi Moreno #48
    John Blackwell: #54
    Andrej Stojakovic #60
    Jeremy Fears: #66
    Eliot Cadeau: #77

That's thirteen guys who could have been legitimate draft picks in a good draft class that moved back into 2027. Now granted none of these guys are exciting high-end prospects right now, they're mostly late first round / second round level talents at the moment. But we have a whole season of basketball left to play, and the odds of somebody having a huge breakout season got a lot better when all these guys took their names out of the running.

Keep in mind some of the top 10 guys like Flemings and Acuff only rose as high as they did during this past season. So it can happen.

Talent, yes. I don't believe any of these players would go top 8 in the 2026 draft.

Don't get a good feeling when the #1 prospect Stokes is a Aaron Gordon clone.

This draft looks thin to me. That said, Stokes would probably have been 4th or 5th if in the 2026 draft. Holt, 5-7. Smith 6-10, and Thompson in the 8-14 range.

I feel like a handful of guys make a leap during the college season every year. Stone just needs to pay attention this year.

It’s way too early to judge next year’s draft. It could end up being solid

That’s what I think. Maybe not the hype of 2026 class but there are some guards I’d take swings on. Guard is our most embarrassing position and rotation that we should try to add to in this draft as Fred exits

It’s too early to make this kind of call IMO. Outside of the top four, a lot of what made the 2026 draft “deep” is because of how the players performed in college. Guys like Wagner and Flemings were not can’t-miss prospects out of high school - they were four star recruits.

Stokes would have been a higher rated prospect than many in the top 8 were in the 2026 class had he reclassified like Dybantsa.

Hey I respect the hopium. I get it. But this is the reason some of us were really against trading the nets their picks back or at least not pressing for more. Forgoing a chance to take swings on the top talent in 2025 and 2026 was a huge mistake and we are gonna have to live with the consequences.

The 2026 draft will be infinitely better than 2027. This was known. This is still known. And all the hopium in the world doesn’t change that. We have a combined 16% chance at #1 under the best case scenario. Probably more like 13%…In a terrible draft. You don’t believe me?

Vecenie] 2026 NBA Draft is in the books, which means it’s time to move on to the 2027 class... Outside of Tyran Stokes at No. 1, I cannot state with certainty that any player listed here will 100% be a lottery pick. Everyone is flawed... this class is not generating much enthusiasm among NBA scouts

Not much of a track when half the fans think one should be traded and can’t play together lol

Even if we don’t get better than pick #5 I feel like we could try to build a decent guard rotation with those picks + Reed(pending improvement) and let Amen move more towards point forward, especially once KD is gone

Would rather have a couple developing lottery talents on rookie deals vs a 30yr old $60million Jaylen Brown

Some guys get better. Others don't improve enough such that their stock gets lower. The odds that there are 5-7 Wagners in 2027 are doubtful.

I hope the Rockets get the #1 pick and they draft a generational player but there is a reason why a majority of the NBA FO's and Scouts are not high on this draft class.

They don't make this stuff up for clicks.

At least now there are a lot more non-lottery guys with a chance to break out and make a name for themselves. I'd say let's wait until next calendar year to start being too doom-and-gloom about the 2027 draft class. Lack of high-end talent right now for sure, but nothing is set in stone yet.
