No. Corrected story has the only pick going to Denver as the Knicks' 2014 first rounder. MIN gives up Corey Brewer only (no picks) to Denver and gets Curry, Randolph and cash.
Ahh... Thank you. I was wondering why Minnesota would give up a high first rounder in this trade. Makes more sense now.
No problem. I at least SORT OF get Minnesota's reasoning for doing this deal. They don't view Brewer as a long term piece. They are intrigued by Randolph's potential. The cash (presumably $3M) will mostly offset the remaining salary owed to Curry, who they would likely waive. Still, if I'm Kahn, I'm holding out for the straight up Randolph for 1st rounder deal. The pick being offered by MIN is likely Utah's 2011 pick they got in the Al Jefferson trade. I'm sure they could do better than the proposed deal for their cap space.
Actually, it makes no sense at all.... Why would the Twolves give up a first round pick and Brewer for Randolph (no need to mention the Curry plus cash considerations)???? Randolph is a PF, with the ability of sporadicly playing the 3 or 5, but at the end of the day he is a 4, and they have Kevin "Beast" Love, no chance for him to start. If they have the idea of playing love at the 5 to make space for Randolph it wold be a huge mistake, Love would not be as efficient, rebounding and scoring as he is playing the 4. This trade would only make sense, if Brewer had a bad long contract, because he doesn´t, and the fact that he actually is a young player with value, makes me think that this 3 team trade is not actually a "real" deal, but an idea that GMs briefly talked about.... IMO This or another thing that crossed my mind, do you think Kahn is doing this so that they can offer Flynn and Randolph for AB (based on the fact that Minny talked to us about AB, and they know it has been rumored that we like Randolphs potential)???? PeAcE
He's saying they're not giving up a first round pick. It made more sense because I thought they were giving up the pick. That's what I had been wondering about.
My bad, but still...... Why would Minny give up Brewer for Randolph??? Randolph is not a team need, he has potential, I can see alot of team going for him, but if there is one team that has a ton of quality frontcourt players is Minny. They eat a huge expiring in Curry and an asset (even if they don´t think he is a long term solution), for just potential (yes because he will not see much minutes). IMO, it doesn´t make sense for them, and that is why I thought about AB (those trade rumors). PeAcE
I'm glad someone posted Prokhorov's comments. It crossed my mind recently, as it should have earlier, that Prokhorov knows Carmelo's team is just shining him on. If he can force the Knicks to give up as much as possible, or, at least, claim that he did so, then he can claim a smaller victory. Maybe it's a Pyrrhic victory and he doesn't know. In any case, I wouldn't mind seeing what Jersey might want for Scola. The Nets were interested last summer (Morey said in an interview months ago "and they still are"). Nothing against Scola, but if Morey is actually interested in "upside", going for Derrick Favors is an option. Just don't know what it would take. Or if he'd be much of a 5 as opposed to yet another 4.
alanhahn Source says if Knicks decline to include Mozgov in the package, Anthony will be traded to the Nets.
Frankly, I don't understand the deal from Minny's side, so call me a con on Kahn. Randolph is that valuable? And Ute's pick seems to be dropping like dunks from Blake Griffin.
Sounds real simple. SnT? Cap room may well not exist for a straight out signing. And by '12 want to take any bets about condition of Amar'e's or CP3's knees? Brandon Roy could possibly look healthy next to either/both. Not wishin' it, just saying...
