Nuggets will drag this out, test Melo's staying power on desire for Knicks.

Now I have watched the Knicks play, maybe not as much you have, but I've seen 5 to 6 of their games this year.

Felton has definitely been good, but you misrepresented my point. I knew one they got him they would be a playoff team, but I was pointing to the fact that on the resulting Nuggets team that does not really play the style that the Knicks do, though it is fast pace you now have Felton getting $7 million for his production for 1 season. Plus the Nuggets have been trying to hold onto Lawson to groom him to take over that team when they rebuild who could just as easily be as good as Felton for much cheaper.

So Felton, is not in their plans but anything but trade bait and "dead weight" for the Nuggets long term plans. I'm sorry but I just don't see an at-best above-average PG who is making $7 million on an expiring contract netting much more than a bench rotation player and/or a 2nd round pick in this CBA, and who knows what under next year's CBA.

You yourself say that Gallinari has shown "flashes of deceptive athleticism, quickness, and the ability to drive to the hoop finishing strong." Flashes are brief and that would underline a player who is not complete. When I say one dimension, I'm not saying he will never move from the 3 pt line, but that his shooting is really his only above-average NBA skill and that has been subpar this year. Yes, he has the tools to maybe become average at driving/quickness/athleticism, but he never really creates his own shot and he rarely goes to basket unless it is on a fast break and he has not shown the mindset that he will ever become the player who does that consistently. That my friend makes him a role player.

Gal is a piece, but he not that valuable to a rebuilding team without a star to draw double teams. He is being paid probably what he should since "he has potential" and could get better. Even then his ceiling is not that high in my opinion. That is why the Knicks are willing to let him go since they have Fields who is a much better player at SF.

On Chandler, yes he is getting better, but he is gamble in my eyes. I could easily seeing him becoming a good 2-way player in a few years. That is a few years from now though. He still needs to perform better and more consistently on defense, and on offense he is primarily a jump shooter and is by far shooting a career best from 3-pt this year. He can get to the basket, but he needs to do so more often at a better percentage. Will he get the open looks he now has with Amare on the Nuggets with Nene (if they keep him) or without any star player?

If the Nuggets were getting him for 1 more season on this contract and then able to have to deal with RFA, I would say he is definitely worth it. However, he gets a raise this summer, without more time for Denver to see what he can do there. With a new CBA, he may be cheaper, but no one knows for certain. Combine this with the idea that he will be the "centerpiece" of the the Nuggets side of the trade, and the media and fans will expect them to resign him at whatever cost, mean they could very well overpay for him.

All I'm saying while these are okay pieces, this deal is basically a "we want to get anything instead of nothing deal" that in the long run will NOT help the Nuggets rebuild. I especially believe this because I think Billups alone, a championship-level PG could easily net a player of either Gallinari or Chandler game and/or a draft pick next year even with that contract.

Several Western Conference teams are still trying to get involved with Denver for Anthony – some even willing to take him without the assurance of a contract extension – but as one conference executive told Yahoo! Sports on Saturday: “Denver does not want to send him into the Western Conference.”

Post a link next time. http://sports.espn.go.com/new-york/nba/news/story?id=6139746

I imagine Melo's decision will leak out sometime tonight. I have no doubt he's made up his mind already. IMO, will be the Knicks.

All along: if Melo was going to sign extension from Nets, he would have been a Net a long time ago. Denver brought the Nets back to drive up Knicks' price. That bluff got officially called tonight as the meeting failed to change what has been known for while. Melo wants the extension and he wants it to be paid by the Knicks.

What Denver also did though was bring Dolan and his friend/guidance counselor "Isiah" to negotiating table. They'll get Dolan to give up more than Walsh would.

FisolaNYDN The Nuggets, according to sources, keep insisting on adding rookie center Timofey Mozgov in the deal. Knicks reluctant to do that.

Well, I guess Denver can call Melo's bluff too. Is he really going to walk away from an extension and sign with the Knicks in the offseason for less money if they don't trade him?

If I were Denver, I'd refuse to take NY's garbage. I'd insist that the Knicks up their offer to what would be close to NJ's, or else I'd call Melo's bluff.

This is pretty much a game of "who blinks first"!

This game of "who blinks first" is going to end up screwing over some teams.

Not that the Nuggets should be all that worried about other teams right now... I just wish they'd make a decision
