i'm pretty sure sterling would be interested in a $21M expiring contract, but i don't think they have the trade assets to match contracts without forcing the nuggets to take on bad deals like cat mobely, tim thomas, etc... what about the suns? barbosa and diaw might be available for such an ending.
See, I don't see AI fitting in with Toronto. They have a wide-open style with lots of passing that don't really play to his strengths. As for Ford, I've thought about him for the Nugs and while I love him, we need to address our lack of shooting first and foremost. As for Chicago, I've heard some interesting rumors about them. It would not surprise me to see Camby end up there. My whole thought process on the Clips is that Sterling wants to make money. AI will give him a "star". As great as Brand is, he's not a "star" in the NBA (which is an absolute shame). I could see Sterling trading for AI to cover the backlash of letting Brand go this off-season. Or if he wants to sign & trade him, that'd work fine. Seriously, the Nugs are going to look a lot different next year. You guys don't have to believe me, but barring an INCREDIBLE MIND BLOWING offer that makes everyone go "WOW", Melo will be back. I'm also 99% sure that JR and Kleiza will be back. Fairly certain that K-Mart will be back. Other than that, well...
i wouldn't be surprised to see both camby and/or AI moved there. the bulls need a center and scoring. good point. but if brand leaves for a new team (lets say he signs with the sixers for max money), what do the clippers have to offer for AI?
They have Ben Gordon though. Two undersized scoring guards is too much. Kaman. Maggette. Re-signed Livingston. Mobley's contract isn't THAT bad. Thornton. Picks. It just depends on what the Clips are willing to give up, but they have talent.
If Denver is going to trade anyone it has to be Anthony. AI only has one year left on his contract. AI isnt going to accept a trade to just any team. He can opt out right now and become a FA if he doesnt like the team. This team will have to be a contendar. The only way a team would trade for him is a S&T where he resigned for a contract that is exceptable by him and the team thats signing him. Can you think of any contending teams that would blow up their roster for a 32 year old player that wants the kind of money AI wants? I know its not impossible but its highly unlikely. Anthony is the one that is tradeable.
It's going to be interesting - they've got a semi-stingy owner and an underachieving team that's got the 3rd highest payroll in the league. I doubt Karl is pleading to keep many of these guys around, considering how selfish and me-first so many of them are. Only question is whether they're trying to stay as a playoff team or completely blow up the team like they did in the 90s. They could get nice returns on AI, Melo, and Camby if they do separate deals. Not worth it to trade Kleiza, and Hilario & Martin are untradable, unless you're taking back someone like Eddy Curry. Evan
you're right. it wouldn't surprise me to see the clips in the mix. didn't they complete a trade for AI years ago, but matt geiger blocked it with his trade kicker? that was the summer before the sixers and AI went to the finals. however, i don't see it happening unless brand bolts (which he should).
well if the clippers trade for AI with Kaman, Maggette, and/or Thornton thats basically trying to dump their biggest contracts to clear cap space, and so taking back a another big contract doesn't make any sense to me. I think the ONLY way AI will end up in Clippers uniform is if Clippers think they are a contender next year...and with Brand and Maggette very likely to go...nah totally no chance they'll throw away their future trading away draft picks and Thornton. I don't think they'd be too aggressive in pursuing a 32 year old. Plus AI probably don't want to go to the Clippers anyways..he wants to win and hes got limited time to do it...
I don't know how many times I can say it, but Anthony's not going anywhere guys. You can debate whether he should or not, but he's not going anywhere.
so you're saying richard jefferson, marcus williams, and a late lotto pick isn't enough to get melo and camby?
I have no clue and no insight into Nugs/Melo moves/non-moves. I will just throw my 2 cents in to this point: anyone can be traded. Anyone. Star or contract albatross. Melo or K-Mart. It could take a deal for both. Or separate deals. But...any...one...can...be...traded.
Sorry to bust your dream but no way they are going to give up Kaman for an aging AI, especially if they are going to let Brand go. Kaman is a legit 20/10 guy if he can stay healthy. If Nuggets can pull it off, it would be one hell of a steal. If any team is going to take AI, it's going to be for the expiring contract, not for the talent.
I saw that rumor and don't buy it personally. I agree that anyone can be traded. Obviously. Hell, Orlando calls up and offers us Dwight Howard for him, bye bye Melo. I guess I should have worded my post to say that "Barring a ridiculous offer, Melo's not going anywhere". The front office has no plans to deal him. Oh I agree. I was just pointing out that the Clippers do have assets, contrary to what was posted earlier.
I know you guys aren't fans of the site (and I don't blame you, it's h-o-o-p-s-world.com), but this summary is basically dead on from what I've heard involving the Nugs. More On The Nuggets: There has been a lot of chatter about the Denver Nuggets recently, and there is a big reason why. The Nuggets basically have three sets of voices talking to teams, and a coach that likes to talk as well. As a result, there has been a lot of conflicting discussions that are not lining up with the company line, so let's address them: Carmelo Anthony? Is Melo available in trade? Sure, all players are, the question is will anyone give the Nuggets enough value for them to move him and that's unlikely. An informed source confided last week that if Chicago really wanted Carmelo Anthony, it would take Luol Deng, Tyrus Thomas, Chris Duhon and the number 1 pick this year, and a future number 1 in the next two years. That's a hefty price tag. New Jersey's rumored offer of Richard Jefferson and Marcus Williams was met with a lukewarm reception by the Nuggets. The Nuggets are not shopping Carmelo Anthony, but when the phone rings they will answer it. Allen Iverson? The Nuggets are not finished with AI, but they do know that the AI experiment has not yielded a deep post season run and if moving him seems to yield a better combination, that is more likely than trading Carmelo Anthony. Keep in mind Iverson has an early termination option that could make things very interesting, so would the Nuggets move him before losing him? That's more probable as well. Marcus Camby? Mr. Touches as he is called by his teammates because of his demands for offensive touches, is likely done in Denver. Of the names you hear bantered about this summer, Marcus is by far the most likely to be moved and again it comes down to offers. Marcus has been better in Denver, but his durability is a huge liability and as a result his value is the lowest of the names being kicked around. The Nuggets are not giving Marcus Camby away; they have had chances to do that over the past 16 months. Don't be shocked if Denver packs Marcus in on a deal to get a serious addition because he won't fetch much on his own. The short and fat on Denver is they want to make improvements, they just are not going to be silly about scrapping a 50 win team, even in the Western Conference.
just one thing from your sig, didnt we already cut Jackie Bulter? Can we still trade his contract or do we have to ask him to come back and then trade him?
