Johnson also averaged almost 5 more ppg on much better efficiency (.55 TS% v. .63). I'm pretty confident we'd be a much better team with Johnson at the 3 as opposed to Brooks, and I love Brooks. But I will agree that Dillon + #10 feels high. But what if we could find a way to also land Claxton? FVV, Brooks, and #10 for Johnson and Claxton (plus whatever filler needed).

    Amen / Green / Johnson / Bari / Sengun
    Sheppard / Whitmore / Eason / Claxton

It may take more than just the #10 pick for Johnson and Claxton, but that team looks pretty good to me.

I don’t really like either player that much, but if you got both for #10 and filler it would improve our team. I just think we can do better with our assets and especially the no. 10 pick.

I dont think Cam Johnson is better than Coby White. He's much younger and actually has performed well for the Bulls. Cam Johnson is basically Kirklands Mikal Bridges.

Coby White for Jalen Green and #10 + Cam Whitmore for VJ Edgecombe is my dream SG offseason.

Its hard for me to fathom people still looking at Jalen's streaks while ignoring his many ruts. If anything his averages, which are quite bad, actually paint him in a better light than they should. His highs are so high and rare that they somehow average out his much more plentiful lows.

To me, one of the biggest benefits to trading with NJ is their ability to take on salary without taking any back. If the rockets are going to do this, it needs to be a lopsided deal that gives them cap flexibility.

    Jalen + 10 for
    Cam Johnson + 19, 26, 27 and future FRP

It leaves a hole to fill at SG, but it gives the team a lot of flexibility for future trades, extensions and using the MLE without going into the luxury tax.

Getting tired of the he is only X years old. At what age will this excuse expire? The fact that Jalen has shown no real improvement on offense over 4 years is more indicative of who Jalen will be as a player than his age. I hope I am wrong, but I would rather not wait to find out. A primary option is not who Jalen is. The quicker the Rockets realize this, the better off the team will be.

Most guys hit their stride around 25. There was a high expectation for 18 year old Jalen Green because of where he was picked. He might never live up to his draft spot, but that does not exclude him from being a very good NBA player. I’m ok to trade Jalen, but not for freakin’ Cam Johnson or like much less give up the #10 pick to unload him.

If we trade Jalen for Cam Johnson and no other players, then we should play Amen in the backcourt, which I've always thought to be something permanent in the future. We can opt in for Fred's last year so that we still have a shooter there. Gradually shift playmaking/ball handling to Amen. Play Reed, Cam and Holiday off the bench as backcourt backups.

For the future, I hope to see either Amen or Reed become full time starting PG. Find a better SG replacement. If Reed pans out, Amen can move to the wing, assuming Brooks isn't here long term. If Reed isn't starter material, he can still be a solid backup to Amen at the 1 spot.

I have little doubt that Amen will be a starting backcourt player for most of his career. Playing him at SF stifles his value. No doubt Amen will pan out. If Reed pans out then that is a solid backcourt. Hell, Amen and Jalen might work. We haven’t seen Jalen playing with a good playmaking pg.

They would have some options. You could move Brooks into the SG position and transfer a lot of Jalen's usage over to Cam Johnson, leaving Brooks with his usual offensive load, and getting more efficiency from Johnson.

I would expect the Nets to re-sign Cam Thomas, so they might actually find Fred a better option for one year.

    FVV + 10 for
    Cam Johnson + 19, 26, 27 and future FRP

It would free up more cap flexibility for us and would provide the ability to move Amen to PG.

Amen is so versatile, I really don't care what position he plays. He will do what he does best. Whether Amen should be the primary ball handler remains to be seen. I expect him to improve, as he has shown how fast he can learn.

I've been saying that Amen should play the LeBron role. Nobody cares what position LeBron plays. He does whatever needs to be done on the court.

Definitely would be a part of additional move to address logjam on the wings/forwards and playmaker:

    Jalen + 10 for Cam + 8

Trade Jalen for Cam Johnson. Sign Ty Jerome. Win 2026 Championship.

Sure, if there's anything the Rockets lack, it's veteran 3&D wing players.

If we did this, I would just run Amen out there as the SG. The problem is I don't think there are enough minutes to go around at the forward positions for Brooks, Johnson, Tari, and Jabari. So I think we'd need another consolidation trade anyway.

I wonder what we could get if we offered brooklyn #10 and the 2027 bkn swap back.

In regards to brooklyn being able to control their destiny again, I imagine we could get 3 1sts in return kinda similar to the bkn/phx swaps.

Im not too interested in getting a late 1st this year but i imagine brooklyn would want to come off one of them.

    something like #10, bkn 27 1st for #27, nyk 29 1st, nyk 31 1st.

I don't want Cam Johnson, but I sure would like to have that 2027 Philly pick.

The only way they get back that 2027 swap is to pony up 2027 Philly plus multiple 1sts this year.
