~9.5M is NOT going to lock up our cap space, especially with the projected increase teams will be getting. Besides, if space is needed, DM will find ways to create it. That part is the least of our worries with this sort of contract.

I find it kind of funny and sad that it took this long for BJ to get D-Mo this sort of contract.

lol. Yeah with only less than half the league with big capspace DM will do his magic and find 25 mil in capspace.
It's magic. There's no need to get in details of how feasible or difficult it will be..it will just happen miraculously.

So, does this mean no more Dmo threads? Or have I smoked too much?

Idk, but i really think Morey would've match Chandler contract if Bosh would've sign with us, and it was really close...that was our plan A, i suppose the plan B was to trade Parsons later in a package for another star (probably Love), but when Riley went crazy after he lost Lebron and offered a max to Bosh, we just got screwed big time by that offer sheet.

It's not magic, it's called intelligence and competence. DM always leaves himself with contingency plans of how to clear cap space if he needs to. If there is anything fans should have learned by now is that DM is a maestro at managing cap space.

I think that Morey has design himself the Nets offer.
2 year team option is a dream
    Is a very tradeble contract.
Low risk here. the second year is not a problem.. Brewer makes the same money next year.

In retrospect, Riley did us a favor considering Bosh's blood clots.

in his defense, he was probably stressing out all summer over his other client's sexual assault case and the fact that said client does not know what the word "consensual" meant.

I appreciate your well thought out reply with constructive criticism.

I especially liked the part where you used extreme hyperbole to try and convey your incorrect point.

Double posting this in this thread...

    WTF? This is strange.

Here's what The Vertical's Bobby Marks, who was a Nets exec for two decades, had to say about the contract:

"The first-year salary for Motiejunas will start at $9.3 million before bonus considerations and decrease in the next three years. The second year of the contract doesn’t become guaranteed until the team exercises a trigger during the first season of the contract, league sources told Adrian Wojnarowski of The Vertical, and each July prior to the 2018 and 2019 seasons, there’s a trigger date to make a decision on Motiejunas’ deal."

Marks makes it sound like only the first year is guaranteed, with the three remaining years all being team options.

    As I said, WTF?

    The rest is here.

Sounds like a near consensus that CFers want Morey to match. I just want to say one thing: if we match and (knock on wood) DMO's back flares up and we're stuck with his contract, please nobody should blame Morey for matching. You are ALL for it!

On 2nd thought, nah, who am I kidding. Some people will whine and complain about every single one of Morey moves regardless. Haters gunn hate.

If we have to drop someone before we match, that could take some time.
