Maybe every team is concerned about his back and this Nets deal was the best he could get even if he's 100% confident that his back is fine.
yeah...Even if they trade BOTH okafor and Noel they still wouldn't trade for DMO when they have Saric and Simmons. Chicago? So you mean Garpax who almost never make trades and almost never let their own rfa leave will let go for Mirotic and not pay attention to Mcdermott and Portis who they drafted to trade for DMO? Atlanta? Maybe if Milsap leaves. Which will also cover the hole of another team's hole in pf. Not to mention there will be very good pfs in the market as UFA which the teams with holes in pf will try to get first before resorting to an injury prone DMO. Players like Ibaka, Milsap, Griffin. And that time delay is crucial for us since time is of the essence with Hayward. If ppl here think that DMO will not hinder our ability to sign a MAX fa next summer all I can do is laugh. There is two sides in the coin. Good contract for us? yes. Bad for signing a max fa next summer? Also yes.
@DaDakota we need a pool like "should we match D.Mo offer sheet?" We need to show Morey we want him back @heypartner so, if we put together everything we know at this point how does the contract look? Is this... 2016-17: 10x (including incentives and fully guaranteed) 2017-18: 9x (fully guaranteed) 2018-19: 9x (not guaranteed) 2019-20: 9x (not guaranteed) pretty much correct?
Damn after all is done, Im so sad for DMo, looks like his time on the court will be limited. Hope he puts his health above everything else
Meltdown if they don't match? "Morey & Le$ are $o cheap!" "Morey just let another asset walk out the door!" "Morey MUST GO NOW!" And if they match? "Watch out Warriors! Rockets finally have Beverley & Motiejunas!" "Watch out Warriors! D-Mo butt sweat coming for you again!" "Rockets have to be considered the favorites behind GS now." "D-Mo gives the Rockets something they haven't had since Hakeem." "FEED D-MO!" "STOP jacking threes & give it to D-Mo!" "I've seen enough. Start D-Mo & bench Anderson/or/Capela."
I do realize that, but the positions we most help with this roster in terms of fit as a star are SF and PF. Jrue is still a two way star PG.
I think he's priorizing stability. If he had signed with Houston he feared to be traded again, it's not that much that he fears the free agency next summer (and even feeling healthy, he knows he's not getting lots of money coming from being Ryno's backup) but being traded again by Morey at mid season. You can see some 'pride factor' at the decision.
He should not be taking a back seat at all. He has proved he can contribute, right now, on a winning team just like Dekker.
Did BJ Armstrong even counter Morey's first offer with his own offer? I mean the reported $7 million vs $9 isn't THAT far off if you take into account the salary cap scale nowadays. I feel like this is how it played out: BJ: "$7 million??? Nah, DMo is worth more than that!!!" Morey: "Well how much do you think he's worth-" BJ: "Nope! We holding out!" Months later BJ: "DMo! We got the deal we wanted!" DMo: "$14 million a year??" BJ: ".....nope but it's more than $7 million! It's $9.8 million!" DMo: "....I sat out all of preseason and 6 weeks for another $1.8 million?" Spoiler
I remember the times when i was sure Morey would've match Parsons just for not lose him for nothing lol
It's kinda embarrassing for DMo and his agent in my opinion. However, if we match and we are performing above expectations then that heals all.
