Fire? I hate fire. It drives me crazy. Crazy? I was crazy once. They locked me in a room full of fire.

I agree. First stop on DMo's medical tour tomorrow: A gynecologist.

It's probably front-loaded, with maximum decreases every year. 4.5% decreases is maximum, right?

But then again, he'd want maximum money in Year 2, since this year he already missed 20 games of pay or so.

So, DMo and BJ essentially got an 18.5m guarantee when the Rockets were only offering 7m, seems like they knew what they were doing after all and got a better deal.

It also seems like that is a fair market deal and the Rockets should have no issue matching it, if they really want DMo - he would be tradeable next season after the one year anniversary of the signing date and the 2 team option years are a bonus as well as it keeps him on the cheap if he is still performing well.

This is as close to an everyone wins deal as you can get.

If healthy, DMo's going to be a helluva lot more than injury insurance.

    yes for BKN.

as for his consent we will have to know if there are incentives. For example incentives for playing time or starting or making the playoffs.
If they is an incentive for making the playoffs and we match then it's likely DMO won't agree to be traded to a bad team for example.

A little, and that is after seeing Harrell and Dekker ball out yesterday. Only player he may deserve minutes over is Nene, but also Harrell.

Unless there's some deep-seeded resentment between the Rockets organization and DMo, I will be very disappointed if the Rockets don't match. Essentially just $9M a year over two years guaranteed?

I mean, at the end of the day, DMo did get a better deal than what Morey initially offered him so I guess congratulations to BJ Armstrong? But it took him that long to get the deal? And $9M per year for 4 years with only 2 guaranteed is a much worse deal than just $9M per year over 2 years guaranteed, from the players' perspective.

No, Rockets offered $8m in the summer. They dropped it once he held out...but reports were it had incentives to get back to $8m.

Plus, you need to subtract around $2.5m or so for missing 20 games of guaranteed pay. That was really stupid.

So, he only gained about $8m in guaranteed money....basically one extra year.

Sorry, the only officially reported amount was 7m - even if you say 8m, he still is up 10m in guaranteed money. And he has 2 years now to ball out and earn more.

I'm more interested now to know how has DMo been staying in shape, and has he been working on that 3pt shot anymore during all this down time. Anyone know?

Where? There are what? 3 teams that he can be a starter and one of them is BKN.
The other is Toronto where the GM is impossible to trade with and they dont' have space and Washington.

Do you know if there's a max limit for incentives?

The Nets know they're not sniffing the playoffs this season. So what if they were to load up incentives like "Team makes playoffs", "You play over 25 mpg while suiting up at least 40 times" or some type of metric where he's much less likely to get being the 3rd most utilized big on a bad team than the Rockets?

I think the RealGM insider was guessing $13m based on Spotrac reporting that as a magic number to hit luxury tax, and know Les doesn't like paying tax.. But that was a mistaken idea because the Spotrac number including DMo's $5.7m holdout, so were really $19m from tax line.

Of course, "I'm just guessing" like he was. :D

ok..off my knowledge of the cba (which is kinda epidermic) : the incentives can't be more than the max he would receive. Also there are likely and unlikely incentives and depending on how likely they are they count or not in the cap.
If the incentive is to make the playoffs for BKN it wouldn't count on their cap.
BUT it will count on ours as far I know, and also ofc determine how open DMO will be to the team we might want to ship him off to.

edit: to know what incentives he has it requires some serious snooping because 99% of the cases they are not publicized. So someone must do the job of a journalist and let us know especially if they match.
