You're way off on Parsons. He wasn't going to take a cent less that the maximum, which was proved by his departure from Dallas. There is no one more buddy-buddy with his players than Mark Cuban and they couldn't reach an agreement to where Parsons would return to Dallas for slight discount. Did Cuban's philosophy bite him in the ass? Because he's the complete opposite of Morey's (in your mind) and the end result was the same, Parsons left for more money. I'm not knocking Parsons at all. If I were him I would get every red cent too. I'm not criticizing DMo either, young players need to get paid. But criticizing Morey for not being able to re-sign Parsons to a less expensive deal is baseless. Extensions are not inherently cheaper deals, they are usually for max contracts nowadays. Morey is not inherently against extensions, they just need to be good value. We re-signed Beverley to a four year, $25m deal with no fuss. We just don't overpay, which you seem to love.
@Vivi Boban Marjanovic wanted to re-sign with the San Antonio Spurs in free agency, since he is a sensible man who likes winning games and working under Gregg Popovich. The coach, though, told Marjanovic that he'd be silly to turn down all the money the Detroit Pistons were willing to pay him. "He's such a good kid, at some point I had to work to get him to understand that $21 million was different than $3 million," Popovich said. "I said, 'Get your ass out of here. Go. You've got to do it.' But he felt bad." "We knew he was gone," Popovich said. "It happens to every team. You lose a guy because you have to pay people and you can't pay them all." After some reluctance at leaving his first NBA home, Marjanovic is settling in with Detroit. "My first wish was to stay," Marjanovic said. "But this is good now. I think I made a good decision."
yeah im sure he's enjoying the 8 games hes checked into for a whopping total of 40mins. money thing good for him. everything else sucks
Yep, they (the perfect Spurs) should've trade him before instead of losing him for nothing, like Joseph.
Vivi was trying to make a point that Spurs aren't different from the Rockets. In fact, apparently Marjanovic was thinking of taking 3 million instead of 21 just to stay with that organization and contend for a ring. You don't get to that point as an organization if you treat your players like they're no more than assets.
If the Net will offer Dmo a one year deal of 5 mil, yes I can see the Rox will match that offer as an injury insurance for our current roster. Anything more than that, not going to happen. The Net is probably having the worst roster in the NBA, but their GM ain't a moron.
I was answering to DD since he said multiple times that the Spurs don't lose their restricted fa for nothing, and as you can see that's not correct. Didn't they treat Splitter like an asset when they dumped him to sign LMA btw? Or that was actually a favor since they traded him to a good/similar organization?
The signs of Donatasmania from Park Slope to Bay Ridge are unmistakable. From the greengrocers of Gravesend to the hipsters of Greenpoint - it's all they can talk about. Yule c.
If they have to cut a player just to make the offer to DMo, I suspect that they will make him an offer that they think or hope we won't match. Even if it's an and of the bench guy, I'm sure they don't want to cut someone just to have us match DMo and they have neither.
OKC didn't extend James Harden. We did twice. They're extending players like Steven Adams for $100 million. Hell, might as well let him go to market. By the way, we're the better team with more cap flexibility in the future.
