I must say about your comment is that we do have home grown talent; Jones, Motiejunas, Canaan, Parsons, and now Daniels.

The problem was that there was no way you could win with just that home grown talent, so Morey dug. He dug up James Harden who just completed his 2nd season with us at the soon to be tender age of 24 and Dwight Howard who just completed his 1st.

Also guys like Danny Green, Boris Diaw, Marco Belinelli, and even Patty Mills have hopped around the league some but the difference there is; they fit the system and know their roles. Instead with us we have everyone playing against each other instead of for each other as the Spurs do.

The Lakers were already a championship caliber team with Shaq and Kobe.

I don't have any problem with signing free agent or trading for players. With our 14th pick, we are not going to get much talent. My issue was people are too obsessed with Now. Morey is just too trigger happy. I understand trades like H-H, but those mid-season lateral moves, to trade below average guys for below average ones. I felt like we are having completely new team every two years, except for one or two players, for God knows how long.

How are they ever going to grow some chemistry, as a team?

Your post doesn't make sense because almost all of those guys were moved to trade for harden or make room for Howard. And after that it pretty much leaves parsons.

And then you have guys that are moving into their 3rd years here jones, Asik, Dmo, harden, Lin, Beverley.

So now you have to weigh team chemistry and improving the team. But i would assume player movement to decrease now.

Talent is talent. Doesn't matter if drafted, traded for or signed as free agent. A good team uses all resources available to it.

Actual '08 Celtics coincidentally probably count as a "get older stars" approach to Finals. All of them were over 30 when they won it.

Its not so much that the Nets relied on older players. In recent years some older teams like the Spurs, Lakers, Mavericks and Knicks have had some success and even won it all with older rosters.

Its the WAY the Nets have gone about it, giving up too much, spending too much and just getting players for the sake of getting players for style, like its video game deals in real life.

(And the "old champion" players they got are now REALLY TOO old)

    That's a good point.

And shastarocket, just like Easy said, I wasn't counting that Lakers team because they were already in the mix before Karla and the Glove.

Oscar Robertson was 32 when MIL got him.

Shaq was 32 when MIA got him

Dallas definitely got much needed leadership play out of Kidd (age 34 when traded) when they won (age 37)

Portland traded for Pippen at age 34 then were a 16-pt lead, 4th Quarter collapse away from beating the Lakers in 7 and likely beating AI for the chip.

Speaking of which the Lakers traded for both Glen Rice (32) and Derek Harper (37) for the 1st Ring ... as starters ... because they needed vets to surround Kobe and Shaq
