How could this not make SA the team to beat? I realize that stars don't automatically fit together, but I don't think The Spurs would want Carter if they thought there was even a remote chance that he'd disrupt team chemistry.

i think the spurs would be better after this, that's obvious, but they'll pass the luxury tax limit and probably still lose to the lakers.

carter would be a scary match there, he can shoot, he can penetrate, he can stop and pop, he's got the offensive down, and their defense, plus the spurs give up crap, literally crap for him, we can do better than that.

The trade sounds good for the Spurs except for "Who's gonna back up Tony?"! They ship out their point of the future in Hill(age 26, 49 games, 17.9 mpg). That leaves Jacque Vaughn(age 34, 18 games, 10.8 mpg) gacking up Parker(age 26, 41 games, 33.9 mpg). I could see Parkers mpg going to 40.

Playoff wise, I think the trade would hurt them.

Manu played point guard spot last year while Tony Parker's absence. And guess what? He was damn good even it that position.

    Duncan-Vince-Manu-Parker and Popovich for sure.

give them a bunch of crap players, they will crash & burn Lakers and Celtics, these 2 team has no chance.

Also if Bruce and Oberto will be cut by Nets and if they head back to Spurs, that's a joke. Bad Joke. A joke that guarentees Spurs Championship.

I can't see how this could be anything but a great deal for the Spurs. VC might not be a great defender but neither is Roger Mason or Finley. However, they would be completely unstoppable offensively.

This trade may be the only thing to get Tracy healthy and wake him up. There is no way in the world tracy is going allow vince carter to come to texas and show him up.

I actually agree with that whole-heartedly. The cousins are cool with each other, but the competitiveness was always there. Back in their Toronto and Orlando days, the matchups were all very entertaining, with TMac held upper hand most of the times. However, Vince did go to 2nd round after TMac went to Magic to become the man. In fact, VC was one shot off conference final in game 7 against AI, while TMac is still stuck in the first round.

A very likely ring for VC if this deal goes through, will definitely light TMac up.

I feel for the spurs FO if we do this trade well win about 2 more championships but we'll probably end up like the bulls after all of this we give up our future with george hill whos BTW 22 years old and he's going to be something special if you haven't seen the spurs play i say im all for this trade if we don't have to give up hill and might as well send finley and bruce bowen and Horbrico who BTW is a really nice guy  comes back and also means no salary cap in 2010 and if the salary cap dosen't rise no chance at rasheed wallace this off season

just another reason to hate the Spurs..... more... if that is possible

Hill and Mason will be nice in the nets dribble drive offense, but not sure how impressive their young core will be for the JayZ Lebron attaction......

damn the economy, if there is any owner out there doing ok financial you could basically buy yourself a title this year

the 5 spot is still a little odd, particularly if Bynum get back for the playoffs but hot damn how hard to defend will a Eva, Manu, Vince, Timmy and Bonner be

Agree on the big name big money player not being a Spurs move. They have their eyes on the cap and team chemistry as evidenced by them shedding Luis Scola.

But even Pop would have to think Duncan-Parker-Vince Carter starting, Manu off the bench is a very potent lineup. But the Spurs do like the appropriately priced establish vet help in the Rasheed Wallace mode

I have a gut feeling this gets done somehow. Imagine trying to score on the Spurs in the final five minutes with Rasheed playing next to Duncan.
