Awesome new series starring Jason Bateman. Just finished binging season 1. Kind of a mix of Breaking Bad / True Detective / Bloodline Anyone check it out yet?
I'm through episode 7 and its better than average. It took a few episodes for me to get hooked. I think thing thing that makes this show work is location. Much like season one of True Detective and Breaking Bad the Ozarks is not your typical location. I am truly tired of shows based out of NY, LA, and Chicago.
Wife and I finished watching the first season this week, pretty impressed. Bateman and Linney are great, supporting characters are pretty good. Reminded me of a mash up of Breaking Bad and Justified....
I wanted so bad to like it but didn't care for it much. Its better than average but nothing like True Detective season 1. Trudged through to wait out the ending. Its one of those you just want to know who the writers decide to kill off or didn't.
I watched it all within a week. I couldn't wait to get home from work to watch it. Great series. Bateman showing some versatility.
Pretty good show. I liked it better than Sneaky Pete. I can certainly see this having 2-3 strong seasons.
The positive comments here force me to watch this soon. Can't say I'm surprised a show with Jason Bateman and Laury Linney turned out well.
Have you seen Bad Words? That's the epitome of what you just said. This series is awesome. Can't wait for season 2. I like seedy underground sort of stories about people who look squeaky clean. I have to assume it's only a matter of time before Bateman starts wielding a gun. That might be the whole story arch of season 2.
Thanks for the recommendation this show is the ish. I love pretty much anything jason bateman is in. Two things though, one I didn't find believable, you mean to tell me a guy watches the same p*rn movie more than once? And apparently I need to hang with more russians. I didn't think money laundering actually involved a drying machine.
The p*rn clip is his wife and her b/f taken by the private investigator. The premise behind running the money through the dryer is to make it look used (obviously). The Blue Cat Lodge is his 'cash heavy' business that he can launder his money. If he deposits all of his money into the bank with nothing but crisp $20 bills, the banks would become suspicious. Keep in mind that 8 million came straight from the bank and was part of his retirement....all crisp new bills.
