And there's nothing more frustrating than waiting hours and hours (even days) to get that movie you want...only to find out the sound is out of sync or the movie skips the last 10 minutes.
got netflix for 3 weeks now. i'm suffering from selection paralysis. there are so many tv shows i want to watch but i can't decide which one i want to invest time in. so i'll spend a good hour just browsing the selection, and at the end of the day, i still got nothing. have been watching Everest: Beyond the Limit. love it so far.
I'm not sure if you have tried but you may want to try VLC media player if you are having those issues. I would run into those issues alot before I started using VLC.
You people that say there are issues with downloading movies... I don't think you've gone through the full phase of downloading movies... you have to know where to look. For example... www.vcdq.com tells all the movies out on the net.. what quality in audio and video they are out on and if they are real or fake and have any issues with them. Secondly, torrents aren't the only way. That's all I'm going to say. (I'd like to preserve what's at hand. And lastly, if you're stupid enough to get caught downloading movies, you fail at life.
The thing I hated the most is that when you are new to Netflix, the newest releases are always the first ones that are sent to you. After you've been with them for awhile, the new releases are sent to other new customers first, so they sit in your queue forever. Meanwhile, they keep sending you the movies on the bottom of your list, or your "filler" movies. I got frustrated with it and called them about it. The guy basically admitted that they do that (above) but said they are "working to get more new releases/blu-ray movies so everyone can be accomodated." I stayed for another 2 months after that and nothing changed. I never tried VOD with them. Video and sound quality are important to me, so I'd rather watch the blu-ray movie disc than deal with poor streaming.
don't know if anyone noticed...but netflix just hatched a deal with warner brothers to not rent out their new release DVDs (Blu Ray or otherwise) until the DVDs have been on the shelves for at least 28 days. the idea is to get the consumers who really want to see it to buy the DVD in that timeframe. in return, netflix gets discounts on their DVDs they purchase for rental use. and, apparently this is going to be the trend going forward with more studios striking similar deals. this blows. we had it good for so long...now it's all going to hell. we just have to wait a month. by that time, it will have likely come and gone on PPV. i will probably just end up watching PPV. where does this leave my netflix subscription? it may be time to say buh bye to netflix. instead of new releases...they are going to be new old releases.
I liked netflix when i tried it. The streaming was pretty cool even though no new releases. I opted to stay with blockbuster though. A glitch in the system has allowed me to have 4 movies out at a time and i like the in-store exchange plus the once a month free game rental for my PS3. That sucks about that deal with warner though. NOt cool!
Yes, they will start sending them out immediately. I recently joined a few weeks ago myself and have been loving it. I never watched any episodes of Heroes and I just got finished streaming the whole first season. Really enjoying Netflix so far.
Just based upon this comment we can understand that 1. You've never had netflix streaming before 2. You don't have any kids (Ton of content for them) 3. You have never seen Netflix on other Media platforms before because Xbox live has the best interface hands down.
Ok, I got this and tried the streaming version on my PS3. I got some error code when I turned the maching on, so I'm not sure if this is the PS3 error or a Netflix error. I tried to watch a streaming movie, but whenever I went to FF or rewind it, it was quite slow. As in it wouldn't immediately go....you had to go to another screen where you went frame by frame, and then it took a few seconds to reload back to the movie. Has anyone else experienced this? If so then this streaming thing sucks....
That's just how it works, on the XBOX at least. The faster your connection, the less lag there will be when fast forwarding or rewinding. But, if you watch on your computer, you can just drag the time marker wherever you want it, and you even get a live "preview" of where you are in the video. Not a big deal at all if you ask me.
Egh, it's not a dealbreaker type of thing, but I am kind of used to immediate rewinding, as in bam and I'm there. But thanks for the response and letting me know.
Do you have your instant streaming disc on your PS3? If you have a good connection you can stream movies on the PS3 in HD. I like it so far.
For watching TV shows, Netflix is solid gold. Personally, I don't bother with streaming (yet). I don't torrent. The level of junk Hollywood rolls out rarely intrigues me at this point. But the TV shows? Love it.
It is mainly old TV shows. I hulu for the recent ones . . . . Haven't tried Netflix Rocket River . . .yet
The WB deal with Netflix is an absolute boon for anyone who uses the instant viewing option. Netflix subscribers who stream films over the Web will soon be getting access to a greater number of movies from Warner Bros. In a groundbreaking deal for online movie rentals, Netflix and Warner Bros. Home Entertainment announced Wednesday that they have expanded their licensing arrangement for streaming movies, and Netflix now has licensing rights to more of the studio's catalog content. http://www.cnn.com/2010/TECH/01/07/cnet.netflix.warner.bros.movies/index.html That means we will have to wait to watch new movies but will have more access to WB content. I will happily wait a month to watch new movies on DVD while getting more access to stream WB movies. My wife and I use the streaming content mostly; we recently watched the first 5 seasons of The Office on Netflix. I love streaming tv shows, and some of the old movies are great as well.
Back in the 90s, DaDakota came up with an idea to rent movies to people for a small fee, and they would be able to take the movie home and watch it. Then comes Netflix to steal his idea.
Netflix sucks. Wait is forever for popular movies (most of what you want to watch). Have to plan 2+ days (2+ weeks for popular movies) in advance. Streaming selection is teh sux.
