obviously, i'm one of the biggest Nene fans on this board. not renewing that contract was a big mistake; however, it can be a blessing in disguise. with his market value decreasing, he now becomes affordable for the rockets. only problem is that he wants to be the man, but he's just not as good as he thinks (hurts to admit, but true). anyhow, my question is how many players have come back after a torn ACL and performed better? is this the MAX performance we will have seen from Nene?
That is why Nene should have re-signed with Den and then get traded later should he demand a starting role. Nugs would have been better off in that they could at least trade him for something in return this summer, and Nene wouldn't have to play with the distraction of a looming free agency.
Can't/Don't some players take out extra insurance on themselves in their contract years for this type of issue? Either way, it does suck for Nene and Denver. I actually like Boykins, but still think Watson should be playing everygame.
Restricted free agent. Even before the injury, the only way he was playing elsewhere next season was via trade. The injury actually HELPS the Nugs because it lowers his contract demands. Just sucks right now. Watson played garbage time against Portland and played DAMN well. Our starting SG is "Pudge" Lenard, but the way Greg Buckner has been playing (and the way Pudge has been playing), I wouldn't be surprised to see that change. Boykins should not be allowed to play PG when he's on the floor. Watson or Dre needs to be out there with him. He pulled a Moochie last game and almost had a 24 second violation because all he did was dribble (the only thing that saved him was he carried the ball with 2 sec left on the shot clock).
