Perkins, seeing as he's a younger player and a much bigger interior presence than Nene. His offensive woes can be worked on by the Rockets training staff (as evidenced by Mr.MVP himself, Chuck Hayes) and he'll be the interior presence that we've sorely been missing.

Perkins. He solves our interior defense problems and is a good center, provided he can stay healthy (health should be a priority given the Rockets recent history).

Besides, our offense doesn't need any help unless it's a superstar or go-to scorer late in the game.

We wouldn't be able to keep SJack on the court. He only has to look at any ref and he's T'ed up.

Yellow pigmentation in the whites of your eyes or in you skin is typically called jaundice, which is a possible indication of liver damage. The yellow comes from bile that is created in the liver and stored in the gall bladder.
Newborns sometimes have jaundice. Increased sunlight and a good appetite will get rid of the juandice in newborns.

Perkins and Chuckwagon playing in the paint would kick ass on D. If we could make a deal w/o losing Kmart it'd be pretty nice.

Perkins is not on offer, and will remain a C for years to come. That is (as close to) absolute as one can foresee (in the NBA).

Whichever we would lose less to get. They are similar enough in value to us that whoever we didnt have to use Scola to get might be my choice.

Perkins is an expiring contract. He just turned down $7.5 mill per. Boston has Garnett and Shaq to man the middle, not to mention the young kid, Erdin plus Jermaine if he makes it back healthy. Boston doesn't want to risk losing Perkins for nothing, especially if he were to float away to Miami. They may just be really tempted to trade him for Scola. And Morey just may be tempted to do the same deal. Remember where Morey came from. Scola would fit in great in Boston and he deserves the opportunity to compete for a championship. Garnett/Scola and Shaq/Baby Shaq plus Erdin is a very nice combination of bigs.

Perkins would be my 1a and Nene my 1b. Both would be substantially better than anything we have at the 5. (I'm not counting Chuck, he plays 5 but is really meant to be a 4)

actually they corrected the report. boston offered 4-yrs $22 million and he turned it down. $5.5 mil per year is an insult (that's Brad Miller money). He'll get $8 on the open market.

    Perkins...

    1. Hometown discount..

    2. Hayes improved offensively ;)

    3. We have scorers, and we don't necessarily need a scoring center. We're 4th in the NBA in PPG w/o a legit center.

    4. We have two true point guards in Ish and Lowry that make our bigs look good offensively...they'll make Perkins look good too.

Assuming even that Luis were not Base Year, Boston is committed to keeping Perkins. He turned down what could be offered, as an FA they can match any offer. They will. The O'Neals have missed how many games and can be counted on how much? C's not even likely to consider swapping Erdin.

Write this down: Perkins is going nowhere, expiring or not.

As he should!! I would really like to see him in a Rockets uniform. This is the type of player that hopefully you can sign (pay him, but not over pay for him?) and build around. He clearly fits one of this teams 2 needs. With the defensive big out of the way we would just need to find a closer.

I almost started this thread earlier today. I like both, but I think Perkins gets the most out of his skill level. Nene has Amare type of athleticism, but got nowhere close to his production. Perkins is a better defender around the basket and seem to be a little tougher. Nene should be a better offensive player, but its not by alot. I prefer perkins, but I would prefer to get someone like Kaman for a 2 yr rental and a run at 2012.

    Perkins' advantage is his age.

Nene is a better all around player.

Sure, we need defense badly and Perkins seems to fit our need perfectly. But haven't we learned the lesson of having too many one-way players on the roster?

That said, I'd take either one. At the end, the price is probably more determinative than anything else.

The majority of posts in this thread all come across like the Rockets have some sort of choice in the matter. They don't. Either would be fine. Neither is likely.

Pretty sure I read somewhere the C's have offered Perkins an extension of 4 years @ $22M. Probably a low-ball offer but they can essentially match what the market will bear.

As far as a trade, Martin and Scola are the only two Rockets who could start for BOS. Scola and KG play the same position and one would have to play C without Perkins. Martin for Allen and Perkins isn't real close capwise but is a terrible trade for the Rockets.

As far as Nene, he's more $ and only coming if the Rockets can be a 3rd or 4th team in wherever Melo winds up.
