The only fight that I remember Kobe for is the Chris Childs one where he started acting tough and got a forearm shiv to the throat like a punkass b****.

You don't remember the 1st and 2nd Laker run?

Fox was the enforcer on that team. Not used to score, but to frustrate other players. Fox was used to frustrate Pippen during the Portland 7 game series. It was Fox that got in the head of Pippen. Remember that game? A few years later it was Sacramento. Fox was used to shutdown and frustrate Peja. He wasn't a defensive monster, per se (not an Artest). But you could call Fox an "enforcer."

I just remember a few games K-Mart just took it to Fox. It was just fun to watch. Also, everyone remembers the Doug Christie upper cut to Rick Fox's jaw, right? :D That was a classic. Why was that done? The Sacramento team knew that Fox was a bully/enforcer. And Christie went at him!

So, enforcer doesn't mean that they have to be "defensive player of the league." It just means that you are used to agitate, frustrate, and limit certain opponents. Piss them off! ;) Fox used to be one of those players.

And I was rooting Christie and K-Mart when they took it too him. That's all. No big deal. Just my anti-Laker coming out.

Dont forget the one where Reggie Miller put Kobe over the scorers table. Afterwards Reggie said Kobe has some unsettled issues in his life. Sounds like he was right.

I dont like kmart. Tim thomas is right. Kmart is a phony. Hes a fake trying hard bad ass. Hes trying to be a bill laimbeer, charles barkley, rick mahorn, maurice lucas, a young hakeem, but at least all of these players are winners, champions and great guys off the court. I remember during the 03 finals, when tim duncan made a great move against him, he fell and TD offered a helping hand, he swatted away TD's hands and sit there for a couple of seconds. What a mother****er. Hey, kmart live up to your paycheck and the hype. Jkidd is not there to save ur ass. Good luck. U just have one of the most selfish players and the newest punk ass in the game in Melo as ur newest teammate. I would not be surprised before the all star break, the nuggets will break apart. And the BIG REASON is YOU. Go Rockets!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11

I would be lying if I said I didn't smile after reading this. I've never like Nene much (notice I gave him some leeway), but I've ALWAYS hated K-Mart. I agree with what someone else said earlier, he's the new Karla, just with less talent. I don't think he'll live up to his contract and will turn out to be another Mo Taylor. The only difference will be that K-Mart will get more minutes and produce slighty better numbers. In a year or two I think the Nuggets will be trying hard to trade him, but with no luck, just like our case with Mo.

    damn.

nugs4 too be honest I was hoping your team had chemistry issues because you have one tough front line.

congrats you have a very loaded team and I expect you guys to do well this season. I wonder if your coach can handle all the egos ? if not there's PJ lurking around.

whoa there, we don't assume yao know kung fu just because he's from China, likewise, we shouldn't assume Nene knows capoeira just cause he's from brazil.

I guess I’m the only person that doesn’t understand the logic in getting Martin. Nene will be moved out of position. He’s not a center. And you wouldn’t be getting the most out of his talent by playing him there. And Martin is an undersized power forward. That worked fine in the East but he will get exposed in the West just like he did against Duncan. And he’s a hot head.

I definitely like Nene better but I believe they got Martin because he fits their running game better than Nene. Also Playing Nene at center is still better than signing one of the FA centers out there to back up camby if he gets hurt. There wasn't much in terms of quality for centers out there this past summer. Also I believe if they need to fill any gaps at least they have a quality big man to use as bait w/o hurting themselves too much as well. Rodman IF he comes back will make this very interesting.

I hope this is a failed experiment :) and Martin is exposed!!

I haven't seen anything that leads me to believe that K-Mart, Kobe or Rick Fox are tough or thugs or good in a fight. K-Mart has some ugly tattoos and talks alot but like Tim Thomas said the guy is fake thug. Kobe isn't from the streets and the only thing that ever happened to him on the court is getting his face elbowed by Chris Childs. Rick Fox was never an enforcer. Cheap shot artist, dirty player perhaps. He made up for his lack of skills by playing dirty and getting in guys heads but I don't think a single player was scared of him. The guy was one of the biggest pretty boys ever. The only thing that happened to him on the court was getting uppercutted by Doug Christie.

Right now I'd say Ron Artest is probably the closest to a thug you'll find in the league. He grew up in Queensbridge and seems to be pretty nuts. They don't make guys like Oakley and Mason anymore.

No one said we're out of the clear yet.

Explain why he wouldn't be a good center? Our offense, for the most part, has one player posting down low, one at the corner of the ft line and the wings on the perimeter. Last year, Nene was the low post, Camby was the high. This year, Nene is the low post, Martin is the high. If we want to put Martin low, that works too as Nene has a decent jumper out to about 10 feet. Do you think he's undersized? He's 6'10" with a wingspan of 7'3". OK, so he doesn't match up against Yao or Shaq. Who does? What woudl be a better option at center? We want to run? Why not stick with the guy who is physically a beast and is faster than some swingmen in the league? He gets his head on straight, it's the best of both worlds.

Honestly, I love the fact that Martin decked Nene. I've questioned his heart and desire for a while. Crap, he's from Brazil. If I was a God there, I'd spend as much time as I could there. Look at those women! But this off-season, K-Mart got a hold of him and told him to get back to Denver to get better. He did. Now, he's throwing elbows and mixing it up down low, something he had trouble with last season (for crying out loud, I think Steve Francis out-rebounded Nene last year). Nene has the potential to be a Hakeem Olajuwon-type player ("potential to be", not "will be". Don't crucify me!). He needs the desire, the craving to kick in. You can hate a lot of things about K-Mart, but you have to admit there's not a more intense player out there (except for maybe Artest......but he's insane).

That acquistition went through my mind also. Nene was/is supposed to be a stud in this league. He's just young and needs some NBA experience. I was actually expecting him to have a break out year. But since K-Mart got the max, i suspect Nene will become trade bait, i'm just not sure for what.

I agree with Nuggets4. How is Martin at 6'9 and built like an ox undersized to play 4 in the West? Juwon Howard is 6'9, CWebb is 6'9...

What big difference does one inch make? How is Nene undersized at 6'10 to play center? Sure Yao will eat him alive, but who can match up with Yao? Nene can just outrun all of his other opponents and that's the Nuggets game anyways.

I don't see what the big problem is. Ever been on a sports team? Teammates fight every day in practice - it's just not reported. I'm sure if Yao busted Mo Taylor in the mouth, this entire board would put a spin on it that 'Yao has finally gotten a mean streak.' Again, who cares? Teammates fight all the time, they don't have to date each other for the team to be successful. Put me down as one who thinks the Martin acquisition will pay huge dividends.

This logic bothers me. Honestly, how is having 3 big men that can all log solid minutes a problem? Especially when one has an injury history like Marcus Camby's.

This may come off as a jackass post, but it's not meant to be. Honest. I really am confused why everyone keeps assuming that since we have K-Mart and Camby, we will trade Nene.

    I'm with Nugs and Cab

i love the 3 pronged combo of Martin, Nene and Camby, sure Nene and Camby may lose a few minutes, but damn that is a nice 4/5 combination... aside from Yao, which centres in the West are they going to have problems with... I love Martin's game, his aggressiveness is amazing and I'm not sure there anyone better at guarding opposition 4s one on one.... his offensive game has got better every year and his running the floor probably better than most other 4s in the league, the question is can Miller and Boykins get the ball to him on the break...i'll also be interested to see if the also run Martin at the 3 for a few minutes a game against some larger SFs

i think there front line is scary, especially defensively and on the boards, offensive the chemistry should be interesting, maybe Miller won't need to shoot at all this year, and boykins and Martin should be a great fastbreak combo... one question mark is Camby... if he plays most of the season they could win a heap of game, the other is will Anthony be the man in the 4th Q

Nugs4 - did Nielsen get a training camp invite and if so will he make the roster.... keep me updated please... email links to any stories please
