Totally agree. I miss seeing him driving and dunking. We could use some more rebounding/interior BIG defense too. Not sure if it matter much or changes anything for us right now but definitely something to address going into next season if it continues. Let's see what happens in the playoffs. We were barely playing him all year (he had some small injuries and he wasn't playing back to backs either way) but I think we had that as a game plan...save him for the playoffs when he can really save our ass in hard times.
I really think he's done, for this season at least. We probably will go small most of the time, with a few Nene appearances, but I trust Black more at this point.
This team needs another tall rebounder. In lineups without Capella we just get abused on the boards and opposing teams have a free look at the rim inside the paint.
I was watching last years game rockets at sixers Embiid as a rookie. Nene was skinnier and leaner last year. He dunked over Embiid. This year he has a lot of weight on him no quickness.
He is just getting older, but I think he has something left in the tank, will it suffice in the playoffs?!
If the new season of the X-Files has an off episode (due to age), we don't lose a championship. I don't trust him anymore in a rotation, but he's nice to have on the end of a bench.
Hopefully Hartenstein has a good summer league and training camp so MDA can play him cause Nene is on his last legs. I understand he's our most well rounded big but its getting to the point I'd rather see Hartenstein get some burn nightly behind Clint and develop than have Nene play four games a month. But that's for next season, here's hoping Black has a second level once the playoffs start
nene shouldn't be in the playoff rotation. i want to see ryno get the backup center minutes. he's no worse at rebounding or rim defense than nene but offensively he creates space and a matchup problem off of pick-n-pops for other centers.
LOL! that was his role the last few games he came off the bench and it was better than having nene out there.
On no planet is Anderson or Tucker a better center than Nene. Then you haven't been paying any real attention at all.
No, no it wasn't. Anderson is only a center in favorable matchups. His job is to space the floor by pulling a defender out of the lane with his shooting. If his shots aren't falling the defense sags off him rendering him useless because he's a horrendous defender and a poor rebounder. A center is a defender first
He's fine. He hasn't played consistent minutes. When the matchups are apporpriate, NeNe gives you the strength and footwork for easy buckets. Plus, name another true PF who can step out and hit a jumper. Clint? Nah? Ryan? Depending. Relax...Ne has been getting his body for war. We're lucky to have a quality big, both inside and out of the locker room. I'll take him over TBlack any damn day.
How about we skip the fake tough guy routine and you actually give me one game that supports your opinion.
Codman, I am a BIG Nene fan. Love him on the team. And he was HUGE last year in the playoffs. Yes he is old and has lost steps but against certain matchups he can excel. Last year vs the Thunder was a great example. And against the Spurs is another team. BUT, last night Nene just got out worked by the Thunder and that was super disappointing, tbh. Of all the teams the Rockets need Nene for, it is for Adams and the Thunder. Really hope you are right he has another gear in these playoffs.
