The difference between the MLE's isn't really "over the cap" …. You have to be over the cap to use any exception.

The bigger MLE (9.2) hard caps you. The smaller one (5.7) doesn't. That's the difference , other than being in the tax "already".

In the scenario of a Butler S&T they are hard capped anyway so they may as well use as much of the larger MLE as you can while remaining under the apron / hard cap.

Meanwhile LAL and Utah just got significantly better.
    Portland our here making trades.
Minnesota trying to go get DLo.
Denver is looking to add Tobias.
Meanwhile Houston is looking at a RFA and Gerald Green..... SMFH!!! So much for the fireworks.

It's based on what your status is for the season it's used in though.

Using the NT-MLE invokes the hard cap (which would happen anyway if we get Butler)
If we do get Butler we cant' use all of the NT-MLE anyway.

Way to go out on a limb there...

    You mean a team with.
James, Davis, Leonard and Kuzma would be favorites?

I mean that’s where Nene will end up. Obviously they’d be favorites. He’s not going to leave to go sign with a team that has no shot at a championship. If the favorites will have him, he’ll join.

This is good for the Rockets a minimum guy is enough

Hartenstein can make the jump imo when we need a back up C.

    Baynes? Hartenstein. Minimum guy
    Tucker. Morris?
    Butler. Morris? Clark
    Harden. Green Frazier
    Paul. Rivers Chiozza

What do you think the Morris twins want?

Love Nene but he is just a shell of himself.

Time for G League Finals MVP to step up. It's the Hartenstein Monster's time.

So true but Nene has handled himself with such class as player and leaves money on the table as he walks away. I hope others are watching.

Coach misses out on Hardenstein in the play offs. The Steinster is the X factor, IMO
