Hard to argue at 2.9. He's brittle so as long as Houston keeps his minutes down he should still be productive in small samples.
he can't play well anymore. We MUST keep DMO otherwise Capela-Nene C rotation is ...worst in the league.
He only played a limited roll there, his Per 36 has been consistent throughout the years so I think he will be fine and give us some depth.
This is an awesome signing, especially at that price point. What are you downers smoking? We're a much more talented team than we were last year
That's a legitimately excellent price for a guy who (health notwithstanding) has averaged at least 14.8 and 6.8 per 36 minutes for 8 straight years. The pricetag would indicate he doesn't expect to start, so yes. Very good signing.
I can't complain. It wasn't possible to get anyone better. Let's hope that the new guys will remain healthy.
@WojVerticalNBA: Sources: Nene deal: 1-year, $2.9M m.twitter.com/WojVerticalNBA Can't beat that I guess.
His athleticism has been sapped by injuries and he's lost a lot of lateral quickness and vertical ability. But oh well. Hopefully you are only playing him 10 to 15 minutes a game and maybe even some DNPCD.
He brings "veteran leadership" to the team. Hope he's healthy, as with our other signings. Now to sign a veteran PG.
We have 80M in contracts before this signing so this puts us at around 83M of the 92M Cap. But that is just based on looking at raw numbers here. http://www.spotrac.com/nba/houston-rockets/cap/ They usually update really quick with new contracts.
I don't get the hate?. Great pickup, we now have that back up C everyone was crying for. He may even start who knows.
Some people are saying "room exception". Can someone explain what that means?? My assumption was that it just adds to their current salary base, reducing the amount of cap space they have left (short of being able to go over the cap to retain DMo)...
Nene will be nice to have as an "enforcer" as well. Need some tough guys. Rockets needed to get a VET big behind Capela. Needed some muscle.
I could be reading too much into this, but isn't $2.9 million the exact number of the exception the Rockets have? If so, I wonder if they're about to make a move that pushes them over the cap or right up against it?
