I mentioned Willis too earlier in the thread. Another Rocket comparison, he has Otis Thorpe type of game. Nene has big hands for gripping the ball. Like OT, always goes strong to rim for ONE-handed flush dunk he's not trying to lay anything in. Good rebounder, defensive presence not great but sturdy. OT was mentioned with Greg Smith, but Nene is MANY-times the player Smith is.
I just really like his name. For some reason in my head I've always subconsciously read it as Hehe Hilarious since his early days in the 2000s.
I liked Nene when Morey tried to get him to pair with Gasol many years ago But he's just too slow laterally to defend PnR penetrators nowadays. Solid signing, but I prefer we develop Capela and play him as many minutes as he can handle.
Have to be honest, I was really surprised at the highlight video (from last season) below that Morey posted. Nene looks like he has a lot left in the tank. Pretty explosive on rim attacks. And some nice footwork/body control on post moves. I could see him flourishing with Harden in pick and rolls.

Welcome to the Rockets @NeneHilario42 ! Man, shame on Morey. This highlight video is from September of 2015 and is highlights from the season prior. It has him on the team with Paul Pierce. I'm not sure if anything in this video is from the 2015-16 season.
Definitely not semantics. Morey saying "highlights from last season" is false (probably unintentionally.) The highlights are from the season before last and they inaccurately represent the player Nene was last year.
Who are the current NBA champs? Who are last season's NBA champs? ...technically last season's highlights is not incorrect. Morley can say last season, until the next season begins, when this season will become last season and next season, this season...
That may apply to current champions, but it doesn't work for anything else. If Harden said "I played great defense last season" people would lol at him. Anyway, I assume it was intentional to begin with, but it says a lot that the highlight reel shown to hype the signing was one from the season before this past one.
There are just no good highlight videos of him from this past season. Big whoop. I was interested enough to watch it.

His post moves are better than Howard's right now, so that will be an improvement for us. A guy that can get quick post position and then make real post moves to score the ball. And make his FTs.... We have needed more shot creators on the team and he will be one. Of course he wont be Nene from Denver, but off the bench with the 2nd team and at times with the first group he will be solid for us. Pick and pop guy too.
he has better foot work than d-12 and can hit mid range shot occasionally, so give this guy 15-20 mins a game, he can be very productive. 12pt/ 8reb not bad
This, I think, is debatable (at least if taken literally). Nene was really good last year. On a per-minute basis, he was actually better in 2015-16 than he was the prior season. And barring a sudden age- or injury-related decline, Nene should be very, very good this year, for as long as he's able to stay on the court. He was the Wizards' best defensive player last year, and hasn't really shown many signs of deteriorating skills or quickness. Just stay healthy.
If Nene stays healthy he will be a positive Dustin player on both ends of the court. We needed this signing desperately with the removal of Dwight.
