The Houston port is very busy, not just oil. Even Katy is a major warehouse hub but yeah a lot of distribution centers in Baytown
Ya, the intent of the naming of the lake is obvious when it was initially called "Ni**er" lake. But of course the disingenuous "free speech" crowd are offended that people find this offensive.
Dirty Bay just voted to not rename Baytown Lee due to the "cost," and used to play Look Away, Dixieland every time we scored on varsity, so not holding my breath.

Yeah, I went to Lee, and got in several arguments with my old REDNECK pals saying I was fine with changing the name since RE LEE was a traitor to our country - they struggled with the concept....that was not surprising as most of them struggled in HS anyway. As for playing that song....Lee Football sucks, it was ok in the 80s it is terrible now....so I doubt it gets played much. DD
I played (practiced, dressed and traveled) there during the mid-90s QB run: Alfred, Stoerner, Roberson and Tate all played D-I, got our butts whupped by Humble in the first round against David Boston who was playing both safety and wide receiver; but beat all the East Texas traditional outhouses. Half the kids in our GATE class called me Oreo, Carlton, half-white, cookie, fudge, double-fudge, burnt trash and black trash every day for being the only black kid in the section, but they all still get a friendly and nostalgic Facebook post every birthday.
