    Heypee,
I haven't but I will read about them on Amazon. Funny thing about the Cocteaus and DCD...about every one of their albums are rated from 4.7 to 5 stars out of 5.

Although, I am a big fan of techno/electronica, I became interested in the Cocteaus from Teardrop by Massive Attack off Mezzanine and DCD from Forgotten Worlds by Delerium off Karma that sampled Persian Love Song from DCD's album, Toward the Within.

Other CDs that are coming soon to my house include:
    Treasure by the Cocteau Twins
    Aion by Dead Can Dance
    Passion (Soundtrack) by Peter Gabriel
    Blade Runner (Soundtrack) by Vangelis
Out There and Back by Paul Van Dyk
    Poem by Delerium
    Post by Bjork
    Tri Repatae ++ by Autechre
The Book of Secrets by Loreena McKennitt
The Space Between Us by Craig Armstrong
The Eyes of Stanley Pain by Download
Blue Wonder Power Milk by Hooverphonic

I really need to quit buying so many CDs, but I can't help it! It's my big hobby besides following my sports teams.

    Nice list!!!

For that collection I'd offer up some historical musts:

Laurie Anderson--"Mr. Heartbreak" featuring Peter Gabriel and William F. Burroughs

Talking Heads w/Brian Eno "Remain in Light"

    Newer additions, I'd offer up:

Up, Bustle and Out--"Light 'em up, Blow 'em Out" one of the few good English bands, imo. (this will surprise you!!)

Deep Forest...or pretty much anything mastered by Bob Ludwig

You might sample Tuatara in a store, Peter Buck's (R.E.M) project. He's trying a little too hard for my taste, but it's solid.

Dang, crispee never ceases to amaze me w/ his renaissance man breaches into other categories. I haven't heard of many of those bands. I'll check them out.

Manny, I'm a big fan of This Mortal Coil and DCD, as well as Portishead, etc. There's an offshoot cd that Liz and one of her bandmates put out, that I can't find right now. I think it may be done w/ somebody from Portishead... anyway, you should check it out (not Violet Indiana, btw *yechhh*).

As a random aside, I have a dumb intuition that says, 'hey you might like Tortoise'. You should download some of their stuff and see if it does anything for ya.

All I have to say Manny is that you have some serious time on your hands. 1300 posts in 3 months. You can't tell me that in any of your 100's of posts a day you have never been negative. Give me a break.

I admire folks who can see sunshine when it rains...likewise I categorize it as WIC to those who wear the sunglasses too much.

Man, most of you guys weren't here in the beginning of the post-Quitten season (99-00 I think.) It was ugly in here. The entire board was full divided into camps of 'cheerleaders' and the 'pessimists' that fought non-stop. We still had Olajuwon and Barkley and soon to be ROY francis, and newcomers Walt and Cato. I remember Heypee being new to the board around then. (and he was really pumped about Cato! Ha. We all were back then, I guess.) We had playoff expectations as always, of course, and still suffered from the "we can come from the lowest seed possible and still win the championship!" spoiled brat syndrome. Olajuwan has surgery, Barkley's out for the season, and Rudy is changing the entire offensive scheme mid-season (boy did we have fights over that!)

There was just so much arguing in here, it was awful. We lost a lot of really great veterans, really great quality posters. SpaceCity, Almu, AntiSonic. Damn, that was about the time that Clutch stopped contributing much anymore. He used to post all the time! And Will, and Kagy. I miss the veterans- the true ones, who were here since 96. Post count didn't mean **** back then.

I imagine we'll always have disagreements between the optimists and the pessimists. It can't be at all as bad this year, now that it's understood that we are rebuilding, and expectations aren't as high.

You know something, you are exactly right!

How's this: So, T he Jockstrap, have you ever posted anything that was useful or informative or not negative since you have been here?

    Manny and Achebe,

man,,,I really didn't think there was anyone on this board who knew much of the 4AD Label.

If you like This Mortal Coil and even Talking Heads Remain in Light stuff...I have a treat for you....this mpeg is proof that there is more than 4AD out there:

Great post, Nolen. I remember that - if only everyone knew how ugly it would really get from there on out.

I personally have always wondered why it was so hard to find a middle ground. I consider that to be a rational way of taking it. It seemed like at the time of the 'cheerleader' wars, it was always one extreme or the other...

    Heypee,
I just got done listening to your "guess this" MP3. That was pretty good. I liked the rhythm, and the guy speaking (wasn't really singing) was cool, too. Who was that?

Oh God! I don't think I want to know what you would want in a trade!! I'm going to have to bookmark this thread, so I can go back and really read about some of these artists that you suggested. Right now, I'm listening to some of the CDs I was talking about earlier (some of them came today)..specifically, "The Book of Secrets" by Loreena McKennitt.
