Radmanovic, Daniels, Swift, and Nazr all sound like good role players.

    Jeff,

In keeping with your request about not degrading this thread into a trade proposal contest, I will refrain from talking about the means of acquiring the guy I think would be the ideal solution to #1 for this team:

    Tyson Chandler.

I know this is not a new idea, but the more I think about it, the more he seems like the perfect fit:

    A. He is available...the Bulls have been entertaining offers for months for him and Curry, and they have a history of giving up young talent for old, overpaid talent.

    B. He is young and cheap...Still only 22, he has the time and ability to stick with Yao and McGrady for another 5-10 years. Since he has not yet distinguished himself as an elite player, or anywhere near that level, we would not have to pay him anywhere near what we are currently paying MoT and JHoward to suck @ss.

    C. He brings the exact qualities you are talking about...As far as defense, rebounding, shotblocking and overall athleticism, he is in the very elite among NBA PFs already. His rebounding is outstanding, especially offensively, and his 7-foot frame and lightning-quick leaping ability could make him a terror on defense as a weak-side shotblocker backing up Yao. Think Cato-like production with Garnett-like athletic ability.

    D. He does not need the ball to be effective...almost all his points come from offensive rebounds and dunks. This is also ideal because he will not crowd the lane for Yao or take shots away from Tmac.

In short, I think this guy is a real sleeper who will be the next in a long line of ex-Bulls (Artest, Brand, Brad Miller) who just needs to get away from that awful franchise to flourish. In his prime, I see Chandler as a Garnett-like defender and rebounder who will also be able to contribute 10 PPG without dominating the ball. Think ultra-athletic, 7-foot Ben Wallace.

Anyway, that is who I would like to see the Rockets pursue.

Positive Vocal Emotional Leader in Lockeroom/bench

Dreamcast Example: Michael Finley, Jamison, Garnett
    Old-Skool Example: Magic Johnson
All-Time Rockets Example: Sam Cassell, Scott Brooks, Elie, K.Smith
Low-Rent Example: Damon Jones, Michael Curry, mobley
    Coaching example: Avery Johnson

Basically, we have nobody who leads this team emotionally, in the lockerroom or from the bench.

Yup. It's too bad our two best players are not leaders.

Tmac: lol, he needs a leader like Shaq.

Yao: Language, culture.....it'll take at least 3 more years for players to actually respect what he says. It'll take at least 5 more years for players to lookup to him for leadership.

I like spending our mle on either radman or stro swift. Radman would be the lights out shooter and coiuld play the 3, stro the thorpe mold and play the 4. and then we could adress the other need with the draft pick. Thta would make for a good off season i'd say.
