Maybe for the next 10 years if Van Gundy sticks around.

No Power Forward. No Small Forward. No Point Guard. No Shooting Guard.

    Our starting five:

    Center (Yao)
    2 Forwards (Tracey/Battier)
2 Guards (Any number of people)

I think P.J.'s just about finished.

Kenny Thomas is probably available. Shame we have no assets to trade for him.

I was thinking of using Brown intandem with someone else..Ideally I would prefer a big, athletic 4,but for now it will probably. have to be patchwork.
Kenny has trouble finishing and most importantly doesn't provide a presence defensively or on the boards. We need size at the 4.

    And Reggie Evans ?
I don't see his name. Or, he is a very strong rebonder. Not a good scorer but for that, we have Mac Grady and Ming.
Then, why not, he is unrestricted free-agent i think.

He may not be the idea pf for us. He is a significant improvement over howard. He blocks more shots, shoots at a better percentage and is a legitimate 3 point threat. In addition he plays with heart, makes few mistakes and will accept his role as a team player and not confuse himself as a goto guy on offense.

Whereas Howard makes most of his points in the same area that Yao works and clogs the lane. He will never understand if he is 20 feet from the basket and Yao is open at 5 feet he should pass the ball.

So while Battier will never be mistaken for Duncan and will have a hard time guarding players like Duncan and Brand ( very few PF's won't) he will still do a better job than JHO.

I say sign Jared Jeffries as he is the most versatile. The only true PF left in the NBA is TD and maybe Amare, after that most of the PFs are perimeter oriented. Jeffries can guard the quicker PFs and play some 2 guard as well.

    James
    Head
    Muto
    Jeffries
    Novak
    Hayes

    Thats a very good bench!

I agree we need some more in the front court. All I hear is talk from the Rockets about the backcourt, but I'm worried going into the season with what we have a the PF & C spots.

I hope we can get a Lorenzen Wright or a Melvin Ely but I would settle for a Loren Woods. Hell, Fransisco Elson wouldn't be bad as well. Someone that could play both the 4 or 5. With Howard and Deke getting another year older and our lack of size off the bench in both spots, I really hope we can get another half way decent big body.

before the draft, cd could have simply made a list to all possible PFs and made a call to each of their GMs and asked them if they're interested in the 8th pick.

If we take on Miles contract we should end up with a future 1st or a future 2nd. asking for B. Roy is too much any GM outside of Isiah would laugh in your face ask you if you're smokin the same sh*t D. Miles is and hang the phone up. The knock on D. Miles is his offensive skills are well umm... lets just say he's no T-mac hell, he isn't even a Lamar Odom on the offensive end, and from what i understand that part of his game is still very much raw and unpolished as a player the only things he has going for him is his athleticism, length, and defense. He is said to be a headcase, a bust, and a malcontent. I say Portland is not and never will be a good place for him.
