Digital could be good if weighted. The new models are probably an improvement. I practice on one at home (not really weighted but I have opportunities to use real ones elsewhere) and sometimes it can keep a tedious practice from being boring by switching "voices" for a while.
I was speaking more tongue in cheek; and I was the one who actually asked my parents if I could play in 2nd grade after I saw some girl I liked doing it in music class. I stuck with it through 6th grade; and both my older and younger brothers tried it for a while, the one benefit was that I was able to get into the 8th grade orchestra right after 6th grade because I could read music. But by freshman year in high school I just think a lot of guys are done with music and especially something that isn't group or clique-driven.
