I appreciate the help everyone. I'm leaning toward the S4's right now, but I'll keep checking the thread until I make the purchase.
If you look in the other thread I was adamant about the S4's as well. TexasFight said it all. They absolutely rock.
How do you guys spend that kind of money on ear buds. I'm afraid to spend more than 10 dollars on one considering how often they seem to break
I've been adamant on the RE0s in past threads but I think a lot of people are turned off by the no name brand. But without a doubt the best IEMs I've ever listened too. Neutral sounds, amazing clarity and separation. It is however a little bass-light, but if you don't need exaggerated bass then it shouldn't be a problem. Best bang for the buck. http://www.head-direct.com/product_detail.php?p=38 Reviews on an audiophile forum, http://www.head-fi.org/products/head-direct-re0-in-ear-headphones/reviews Review of a crap ton of IEMs http://www.head-fi.org/forum/thread...-compared-meelectronics-cc51-sp51-added-02-03
Easy, we love to hear good sound But seriously, you can clearly tell the difference between a good pair and pairs that came with your phones/players. That's if your music is encoded properly. Several of my albums sounded so horrible because of the low bitrate that I had to delete them.
Don't know if these are any good, but here is Amazon's deal of the day for Tuesday - 02/08: http://www.amazon.com/Sennheiser-MX..._m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_r=0P0HYN0KW3Y0A67A4KKP
I got my Klipsch IMAGE S4i today. They're great. Not as good as I expected, coming from Sony MDR-EX36Vs, which are $20 on Amazon. The bass is a -tad- better, but the overall sound is pretty comparable. Don't get me wrong, the sound is amazing...I just had a good sound to compare it to. What I did notice is that the seal these things make in my ear channel is freaking amazing. It blocks out as much sound as the 31db earplugs I use when I need to concentrate on studying. So that's a step up from the Sonys (which make a decent seal). I didn't realize what a huge bonus the in-line control buttons would be. I was able to pause/ff/rew music without digging my iphone out. I haven't tested the mic yet for phone calls or voice control, but I expect it to be adequate. Overall, I'd say that they're worth $80, but it's not a huge bargain since the Sony MDR-EX36Vs give pretty good sound for $20 (and come in different colors!). I don't think the sound is worth 4x the Sonys, but the convenience features are worth it to me. If you're looking at the Klipch Image S4, you might as well go S4i since at the time of this writing they're around the same price. EDIT- I just remembered something I read about these. Apparently they sound much better after about 100 hours of burn-in. I had no idea that speakers 'aged' before I read this. I'll update in a couple of weeks when they've had time to burn-in.
I was looking at those but saw these rated high and cheaper. Bought them Yesterday. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001GSX7R8/ref=oss_product
I have the Klipsch S4. I copied the above quote from a reviewer on Amazon because I have the same problem. I can use these earphones, but I have to skip some songs or I have to keep the treble down real low. This is a problem that most people won't have, but unfortunately some people do. Other than this issue, I like these earphones. I have some large Grado SR80's that I use most of the time, and I have no problem with sibilance.
Though my own IEMs of choice are the Shure SE535 (great for traveling on aeroplanes), I have reviewed the following, and they're sure to suit your needs of cost x<$150 and good bass: Fischer Silver Bullet Maximo iM-590 Brainwavz M2 Shure 115 Panasonic RP-HJE900 Sennheiser IE6
