Green is not a good defender. Gets lost a lot. Defensive stats are whack, you need a massive volume for the to make any sense. The mere fact that it has him rated above Covington and Tucker tells me there's something wrong with the stats.

His offense has been a pleasant surprise though!

Defense is still better than House or BMac.

B-Mac sure, House no way. He's been a bad defender all his life except that one sequence vs Lebron ages ago. I hope he comes through though.

We can agree to disagree. DWade agrees with me anyway. LOL

And Jeff has had more than 1 good defensive sequence. Green was the best defender on Cavs championship team just 3 seasons ago.

    https://www.fearthesword.com/2018/4/9/17213766/jeff-green-cavaliers-playoffs-breakdown

In fact, Green’s versatility on the defensive end is close to unparalleled. Since the All-Star Break — when Green stepped into Jae Crowder’s vacated role — he has guarded everyone from post-behemoth Jusuf Nurkic to defending MVP Russell Westbrook and all sizes in between.

Opponents are shooting just 53.8 percent at the rim on the 3.9 shots Green has defended per game since the All-Star Break. This ties him for 18th overall and 1st among non-traditional big men with Giannis Antetekounmpo over that time.

Therefore, it is not a surprise that since the All-Star Break, the Cavs have a 104.9 defensive rating with Green on the floor and a 112.3 dRTG when he is on the bench. If you adjust for minutes LeBron James has played, James + Green have a 105.6 dRTG together and James without Green has a 113.6 dRTG.

House cannot defend Bron, Durant or Kawhi.

    And House cannot provide this.

Jeff Green can't provide any of that stuff beyond a highlight reel, Kevin Durant has been averaging roughly 25ppg on 60% from the field with 5 assists in his last 4 games against Green.

House has nicer blocks than that btw. I'm just not gonna bother cause I'm confused as to how a clip of a single play constitutes any kind of supporting argument.

Need him off the bench to be honest. His scoring is valuable there, totally unnecessary with the starters. If he doesn't play better defense, he'll only play situational minutes, and clutchfans will be "shocked" at how MDA didn't play him. I hope he's ready to win a title.

He really should start over Tucker, or at least finish games with the starters. Tucker tries too hard sometimes and commits stupid ticky tack fouls every game and he is not as versatile as Green is on the offensive end.

We could easily have Green at center, Covington at power forward, Tucker at small forward, Harden at shooting guard and Westbrook at point guard.

Yep, Jeff had all the tools to be an Allstar since the OKC days, I think he just didn't have the elite stats when it mattered but he sure could do it all in spurts.

The aortic aneurysm and heart surgery.

I don’t think it will happen but it would be great for Green to start for several reasons:
    1. He is the only consistent roll man we have. Adding him to the starting lineup gives the offense another layer for the defense to react to
    2. He has shown an amazing ability to space the floor and make the easy pass. Fits well with the lineup even in times where we want Russ to play bully ball
    3. He’s the closest thing to a big body we have. Our offense is so nice that we can win any game as long as we don’t get dominated on the boards
    4. He is patient and lets the game come to him. Green has played off of stars for years and doesn’t get cold if he doesn’t get the rock for a few possessions.
I prefer House and Gordon off the bench so that they have the green light to create offense for the team. It just doesn’t make sense for House/Gordon to do so when Harden and Russ are in the game and I think that adversely affects their rhythm.

Green will eventually start whether its during the regular season 8 games or playoffs. it was already tracking towards it before the season game to a pause.

So ignore the data until significant sample size accumulated?

You realize that 1) Jeff Green plays role unlike he has for any of his past teams 2) only 8 remaining games until postseason and 3) posters/fans/media already complain that Rockets, specifically MDA, do not adjust quickly enough.

Rockets ORT, rebounding, DRT efficiencies are through the roof with Green in game.

    What could it hurt????
