Was it Mystery House? If so, that game is ANCIENT. lol. That came out in the early 80's. I found this : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mystery_House Deadlybulb's 7th Guest is the game I couldn't think of, but I'm guessing that's not it.
O.M.G. I pwned that game back in Jr. High!!! That's how I became good at computers... I realized that the better you were, the quicker you finished your assignments, and the more you could play that game at the end of class. Then I just started wiping the floor with everyone in my class.
I spent a lot of time in high school playing that game. In fact, my Computer Drafting class that I took for an elective probably should have been renamed Gorillas.
