I understand how it works, but I didn't want to come off as a person doing this just for my own gain.

No, MLM and a Pyramid Scheme are not the same thing. Here is a simple breakdown. I have put a lot of time into it, but I've gotten back much more what I've put into it, otherwise I wouldn't suggest it to others. Like all other things, you reap what you sew.

I seem to remember a Primerica thread a while back, because I remember making a Kramerica reference.

As great as this site can be, it unfortunately also has a group of people that have no issues with bringing others down without knowing the full story. Trust me, Ive been through the wrath of Clutchfans.

Although Im not in a position to take advantage of this, Im sure plenty of people on here find it useful...so dont let the few members get you down.

    repped.

If you are going to succeed long-term with Primemerica, you need thicker skin than you have exhibited above.

Forget and forgive; most of these folks don't know what they are talking about with regard to MLM and pyramid schemes.

You shouldn't take it personally pugs, just understand that there are a lot of people who have had brushes with both MLM and pyramid schemes. And though you may have good intentions, that doesn't mean that others who have been a part of those systems have. Not too mention those that actually were recruited in some fashion that might not have been legit. some people just have an aversion to the 'recruiting' system because of how it's been abused in the past.

It's not a reflection on you. best of luck to you.

Yeah, I understand how things work on here, there are always people trying to bring you down. I thought I was a reputable/respectable person on here, but obviously not. Even when you try to go out of your way to help people, you still end up the bad guy.

I appreciate everyones kind words. Who knows what the future holds.

here's my take. as a former agent of Primerica, i've got nothing bad to say. i spent four years there and made a decent amount of money. more importantly, i learned about sales, saving, and what it means to buy term and invest the difference. my $199 initial investment was returned to me after my third sale. it cost me nothing and i gained a lot.

i was able to cover families with the appropriate amount of life insurance, replaced a good amount of bad whole life policies, and there were even times where i did nothing because the family already had a better policy in place. Primerica is no different than All-state and Farmers, except Primerica agents actually visit your house and speak to you on a personal level. They do not have a one size fits all policy, meaning it's important to know what your actual financial situation is before "selling" you anything. Are agents salesman? of course. Their insurance is a bit more expensive (per $1000) than at the big insurance companies, but there's a reason why Allstate and FArmers will sell you whole life, instead of term. Because whole life means large commissions.

Is Primerica a scam? No. Unfortunately, because they are MLM and recruit they get a bad rap. I started Primerica with 2 other friends. One couldn't pass the test to get his licence, the other is a regional vice president making serious residual money and this was about a decade ago. a lot of people drop out because it's hard work and unfortunately end up alienating their friends (where the recruiting aspect rears its ugly head), but there's success if you've got thick skin and work the business. at the very least, you get real life experience and knowledge about sales and money. i don't regret my time at Primerica at all.

pugsly, if it's working for you ignore the hate. be honest with your dealings and don't try to force people to join. all you can do is show them your success and they will choose to follow or not. i'll readily admit i couldn't hack it. i gave up. my friend did not and is living pretty well. and he didn't have to deceive anyone. he brings them to the meeting and literally lives by the motto, "some will, some won't, so what."

You area respectable person on here, AFAIK. Athat really doesn't have to be related. Some people have loved ones and family members who may have been recruited into one of the 'bad' companies and tried to pass it on with nothing but good intentions. It's not always a reflection of the person.

(again, I'm not talking about your business here, I don't know anything about the company. I'm just talking about the ones that may have created the bad rep.)

I've worked corporate for an MLM company. This is a passive direct sales business model. They're both legal.

Macalu, Farmers and Allstate don't just sell Whole. There are good agents who work for the big companies too who don't just try to sell the most expensive product.

So what I gather is that life insurance is like playing the game of thrones, either you win or you die.
