You can't own a handgun until you are 21. The age to own a rifle is 18.

You might try and look at the Berretta Tomcat, small carry, pocket or purse, in 32 caliber. With the right load, plenty of gun, small enough for a petitte woman to handle easily. I think about 300 dollar, ottomaton can correct me if I am off on this....

OOPs, just saw your age. If you do decide to carry, get the CCL so you can be legal.

I own several hand guns, rifles and shotguns.

My two main hand guns are a Glock .40 cal and a recently acquired Colt Gold Cup .45 stainless model. I loved my Glock when I first got it, but after shooting the .45 for the first time there's no comparison.

Unless you just like revolvers, I have a few, then do yourself a favor and get a nice 1911 model .45. More rounds, crazy knockdown power, easy to shoot, ammo is cheap, and you don't have to worry about it going through a person, into the next wall, past the kitchen and into the next room.

Main thing, regardless which gun you purchase, treat them as if they're always loaded. If you point it at someone, the next nano-second should follow with a shot or 8. (Meaning, don't point or pull it out unless you're going to fire it) Never show it to friends, or let them know that you have one in your home. And by all means, learn how to not only use and shoot the gun, but clean it after every session. Nothing worse than a fouled up dirty firearm.

    Be safe haus.

Thanks Ottomaton. Looking to buy one with the 9-shot capacity and ghost ring sights in January. I looked a little further and I found some model numbers, I think:

    51663
    51668
