You're right and I don't want to make it sound like there isn't going to be a lot of work involved but just pointing out that you don't need to worry so much about the technical part. It is still going to take lot of labor and be dusty and dirty. For doing this type of work though I don't think it all needs to be poured at once and for a slab you want a wetter mixture that doesn't set rapidly so there is time to work it.
