Ugh, Dell... For $1000 you can build a pc yourself and get a AMDX2 3800+, 7900gt, 2GB of ram, a good PSU, case, etc. off www.newegg.com. That's much better than this deal, even though its only $600.
Exactly. I got my laptop for a shade under $1500 with a $650 off coupon. That time they had free DVD Burner but HDD upgrade was more expensive. The next week they had a 30% coupon where the was no DVD Burner upgrade, but the HDD upgrade was cheaper, and the RAM uprade was free. I configured it just like I bought it the week before and it came out exactly the same price, save a few pennies.
That's what you'd do if you're a true geek (ummm... like me). Some people don't want to have to worry about parts failing and trying to figure out what failed and then shipping that part of to wherever they bought it from and waiting to get it back and then replacing it in the machine. That's what you get from Dell that you don't get from Newegg.
You do realize that the Dell system comes with a $250 monitor. So you are only paying $350 for a dual core machine.

To be fair, you ARE paying overhead on the warranty. I highly doubt that POS 15" Analog LCD is worth $250. Yes, I abhor Dell/HP/Compaq/etc.
