If it mattered, I'd vote Texas #1... but you have to go with Utah to point out the absurdity of the BCS.

I selected Utah in this poll, but really what it comes down to is this:

    Which team could beat Florida?

    Would Utah? No.

    Texas? No.

    USC? I do think so.

I hate Florida, but they are the "champions" so if I was voting based off of who could dethrone the "champions," the only one would be USC.

    1. USC

    2. Utah

    3. Florida

    4. Texas

    5. Oklahoma

I'd vote for Texas but could understand any of Utah, UF, USC or UT.

I'm sure glad we have the BCS to avoid arguments as to who is #1.

Anyone see the Chronicle's AP vote. Very interesting. In the end, I think Florida will still win the AP poll.

    http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/headline/sports/6201981.html

I’m standing up for the little guy. Utah is No. 1 on my final Associated Press Top 25 ballot.

As Utah coach Kyle Whittingham put it, the Utes are the only team that does not have to explain a loss. Thirteen games. Thirteen wins. No other team in major college football can make that claim. Along the way, Utah beat six bowl teams, including two that will likely finish in the top 10 (Alabama and TCU).

You can debate whether Utah would beat Florida, Texas, Oklahoma or Southern Cal. That wasn’t part of the job description this season. The Utes beat every team on their schedule. The others did not. And when paired against Alabama — a team that spent five weeks at No. 1 — the Utes, well, rolled the Tide in the Sugar Bowl.

Does 13-0 mean anything? It does to me.

Let this be yet another lesson to the college football powers that be: The problems won’t go away until they fix the (B)roken (C)ontroversial (S)ystem and implement a playoff.

    1. Utah; 2. Texas; 3. Florida; 4. USC; 5. Oklahoma; 6. TCU; 7. Alabama; 8. Boise State; 9. Oregon; 10. Texas Tech; 11. Penn State; 12. Ohio State; 13. Georgia; 14. Virginia Tech; 15. Mississippi; 16. Cincinnati;17. Oklahoma State; 18. West Virginia; 19. Missouri; 20. BYU; 21. Florida State; 22. Tulsa; 23. Nebraska; 24. Rice; 25. Oregon State.

Well Ole Miss did dominate Texas Tech and everyone knows Texas Tech was a better team than Texas.

    Therefore I agree with you.

OLE MISS - 2008 NATIONAL CHAMPIONS

Utah. You can say what you want about them, but they beat eveyone who was put on the same field as them.

Wow, Utah got shafted. How are you going to argue the importance of one-loss when you don't reward the undefeated team with the top spot? Why was Alabama number 1 for all that time, then? The BCS is a joke.

THERE HAS NEVER BEEN AN NCAA CHAMPION IN FOOTBALL!!!

Polls are nice but real sports don't elect their champions.

We could have done that at the first of the season and saved everyone a lot of money and trouble. I mean in the end it's still a popularity contest right?

AP Champion? What a joke. We bash these writers every day and now we care what they think about who is champion? Did anyone listen to the idiot talking heads during the BSC Championship game? These guys would build a shrine and worship at the feet of God Tebow, and we care who they think is Champion?

Bring the BCS to the NFL, the Playoffs are a SHAM!!!

The Patriots got robbed last year, they were clearly the better team. 16-0, never done before. MVP and maybe the best QB of all time in Brady. Can anyone argue that the Patriots are not the better team? Their only loss comes by a miracle catch that no one can still figure out.

Giants lost 6 games in the regular season. Twice to the Cowboys who got rocked by the Patriots by 21pts! A loss to the Redskins who also got whipped by the Patriots by 45pts! And finally, they lost to the Patriots at HOME! The playoffs are ridiculous, one lucky catch and the Giants get the Lombardi Trophy?!?!?!?

Please bring the BCS to the NFL!!!!!

All you idiots are arguing a un-win-able argument. Comparing victory margins, loss margins, and schedules. It's all bull****. Just stop wasting your time, and next year, just watch football on Sunday's where a real champion is determined.

I'm glad you agree because it is a fact.

The NCAA doesn't recognize any team as "National Champion" in football and never has.

Every college football team that claims to be national champion does so based on a poll of some sort... elected champions.

    It's a Joke.
