LSU was too athletic for UT, PJ Tucker was surprisingly unaggressive, Aldridge was terrible because he couldn't adjust to Big Fatty's strength and Big Fatty and Tyrus Thomas were dominant. LSU didn't play a smart game at all but UT wasn't smart enough to take advantage of LSU's poor shot selection. The better team won. It wasn't the refs. Aldridge should come back for the sake of developing his basketball skills. He may not be ready for the NBA yet. But if he's a top 5 pick, money talks!
i'm not saying lamarcus won't be a top 3 or 5 pick, he definitely will. but he'll make a bigger impact sooner, and adjust much easier if he stays another year and improves. if he and his family need the money, go ahead and leave. there would be no problem with that, but he'd be better served staying for another year and getting stronger and better in the post.
While I agree that the team that played the best today won, let's not pretend the refs didn't have a slight impact on the outcome of that game. That being said, maybe now LaMarcus will come back for next year.
Agree. I thought LSU was on the verge of blowing us out in the second half. Had no confidence in our offense, yet we were one FT away from winning it.
Pretty much as I expected. Texas got a gift when Northwestern St knocked off Iowa which basically allowed the horns to sneak into the elite 8 (and it took a last second 3 to beat West Virginia, who is simply not a good team imo). LSU just had superior talent in Davis and Thomas. I think LSU will get stomped by either UCLA or Memphis, whoever wins between those two.
Why would I root for them? I don't like Rick Barnes. My friend in Austin was telling me how he treats his player and nobody likes him. He told me that ex longhorns don't want nothing to do with the program no more because of Barnes. He also told me Gibson almost went to the NBA last year because he hated Barnes so much.
Texas beat Iowa this year. Texas baseball beat rice last week. 9 in a row. If that were the case, he would have more trouble recruiting. I know he and TJ are still pretty close. I figured you would root for them because you're a Texan?
Your friend is wrong, why would we be recruiting so well if Barnes was the ******* your friend makes him out to be?
LOL, I almost posted "Countdown to a bigtexxx post in 3...2....1..." but did not. Glad to see that he didn't let me down.
everyone would be better and make an impact sooner when the reached the nba if they stayed until they were seniors. but no one does that. you can either make an impact sooner, but after waiting a year, or make an impact in 1+ years. it's all the same. i'm sure LA would be better when he reached the nba after another year. of course, he'll get better by being in the nba as well, playing against stronger players all the time, working out with nba trainers and such. if he's going to end up close to the same place a year from now, whether he's in college or the nba, then it doesn't make much sense to not just go to the nba and start getting paid. now if someone could potentially improve their draft spot enough, you might come back, but LA isn't going any higher than he is this year, especially with all of the people who had to wait a year b/c of the new nba rule entering next year's draft. all in all, he has nothing to gain from waiting a year, and, given the injury he had his sophomore year, potentially a lot to lose.
Where were you the last couple games bigtexxx? Working out again. Let's just hide in the weeds til' UT loses a game huh? Good thing UT baseball is owning Rice right now, 9 in a row IIRC. Congrats to LSU though, Big Baby and Thomson are absolute beasts inside. I thought Texas had enough bigs to compete inside. I don't see any of the teams left over that can handle LSU's 2 bigs inside.
LOL That is truly hilarious to think that I was "hiding out" until the horns lost a game. It ain't all about you, brah. To be honest, I have been quite busy of late and my posting has largely been focused on the Yao Ming Mania board. I'll still pop by here from time to time, so don't you worry, friend.
You're delusional if you honestly believe that LSU will get stomped by UCLA. I like Texas, and I said before the game that I thought they would lose. They did, and it wasn't because Texas played their worst game of the year. It was (just like on Thursday with Duke) the result of incredible LSU defense and physicality. They have two perimeter defense studs with tons of length (Temple and Mitchell) and of course Davis on the interior, and in the event one of them somehow gets beaten, they have the best weakside shotblocker the college game has seen in years in Tyrus Thomas. UCLA isn't playing their best ball - they needed a complete miracle to beat a so-so Gonzaga team and played a game today that set basketball back about 50 years. They haven't seen anyone close to LSU. Thinking LSU will get stomped is just... silly. LSU's just too talented and playing too well. The only team left in the tournament that has a decent chance to beat (not saying they will, but can) LSU is Florida, because of their experience of playing them in the SEC and the development of Noah.
I'd like to see LSU win, but I think UCLA will win. Points will be very difficult for both teams (UCLA can really defend too) and UCLA has better shooters/guard play. Let's not get carried away with LSU, miracle shot versus Aggies and almost coughed games away versus Texas and Duke. I think there immaturity and lack of outside shooting will catch up.
