Games tonight: UConn vs Washington George Mason vs Nova vs BC Florida vs GTown Huskies, Two in the Pink One in the Stink, BC, and Gators roll.
Batista really threw that game away last night. I think there was also another possesion in the final few minutes where Gonzaga had milked the clock and Batista got an offensive rebound. Should have thrown it back out, instead put up a difficult shot that ended up being short.
that travel call on BC as the guy was being dragged to the floor was one of the most horrendous calls i can ever remember. and the ref was right there looking at it. just wow. at least BC has tied it up now, but damn that was bad.
i agree. there is no way that is EVER a travel. that was possibly the worst call of the tournament, because there is simply no arguement for it being a travel. and that sean williams block was AWESOME. when lowry caught the ball he was in the middle of the lane. he covered about 15 ft. in one second. that guy is one of the best leapers in college basketball.
Just got in from a week in San Francisco at a work convention. Get this.... I was on the second FREAKING row for both games in Oakland! That UCLA-Gonzaga game was AWESOME! The play that decided it, the strip of Batista, happen right in front of me!! There is a picture on the front page of the Los Angeles Times with Collison and Mbah a Moute jumping into each other's arms. One of my friends is in the picture, and I'm two seats over (hidden behind the players) EDIT: A pic from my cell phone (click on image for full size).
I almost hope Connecticut wins this game. I don't like Connecticut, I like upsets, and the officials have been so blatantly pro-UConn that it's not even funny, but... The Washington coach deserves to lose for being one of the dumbest men on the planet. I've heard of not fouling when up three in the closing seconds if they're about to shoot and you're afraid of fouling them in the act. Or if it's a poor shooting team. But against a great shooting team, when all you had to do was wrap them up and you pull off arguably the biggest upset of the tournament... I feel really, really sorry for those kids. As bad as the officiating is - and yes, this is arguably the most one-sided officiating game I can remember for years - it's hard to point the finger at them if you're Washington. None of this matters if the coach isn't completely braindead on one of the simplest calls in the game. Wrap up Marcus Williams when he passes halfcourt, and this game is over (well, 99.9 percent) 15 minutes ago.
