This mock has Houston trading 3/17 for 2/34 and drafting Chet. Anyone think this could happen? Who would you like at 34? https://syndication.bleacherreport.com/amp/10037673-2022-nba-mock-draft-how-3-trades-can-shake-up-the-top-10.amp.html
i’d do that even though I’m fine with any of the top 3 bigs. Just think Chet has the highest upside of the group. At 34 I’d draft Christian Braun.
I think it’s a no brainer for OKC if they want Paolo over Chet. They are moving up from 34 to 17 and still getting their guy.
If draft really does fall this way then I'd trade #17 to Hawks for 6'9 Jalen Johnson. And I'd try my damndest to move up from #3.
Just because you don't see the difference does not make it not true. Mobley's body is not anywhere near what Holmgren's is, I don't know why you keep bringing him up like they are comparable, Mobley had much more muscle than Holmgren currently has. I never said Holmgren's game would fall off a cliff tap the breaks on the hyperbole, just because I have questions about Holmgren does not mean I think he is going to be a scrub. Mobley's lateral ability is much better than Holmgren's as well which puts him on another level.
Yes because 1. I think chet/jabari are a half tier above paolo/ivey 2. I think 17-35 is very interchangeable and largely the same tier. I don't think OKC would want to do this because of #2. but you get one of the top picks in that tier as compensation, and your guy (supposedly Ivey) so maybe they do it. I'd pick Gabriele Procida.
Why would you pass up on a near lottery level guy just to move up 1 spot? That's ludicrous none of these guys are so much better to move down that much.
So a near lottery guy is interchangeable with a 2nd rounder? And half a tier above is worth dropping that far?
If you're the team that is clearly 100% set on Chet or Jabari then yeah that trade makes complete sense, so that you're getting one or the other
That's terrible value to move up one spot, none of the top 3 is worth a near lottery-level prospect. Especially when you can either buy the 34 pick or trade for it if you really like a guy. I have no idea why anyone would entertain this.
I like Paolo, but Chet is my #1 prospect and Chet/Smith are on a higher tier for me than Banchero. Not to mention Chet would fit perfectly as a secondary scorer to Green and a defensive force, which is exactly what we need. When it comes to top of the draft, I'm willing to forfeit a lot for incremental moves up between talent tiers.
They would have to truly believe Chet or Jabari to be a significantly better prospect and/or fit with the team. In addition, it would have to be believed there's not a ton of difference between 17 and 34 in this draft. In other words around 15 the talent level plateaus so you don't lose a whole lot between a guy like Agbaji at 17 or a guy like Braun or Kessler at 34, for instance. Also, 2nd round picks are more flexible as far as being stored overseas or signed to team friendly deals. I could see arguments both ways for this deal, which is why I found it so interesting.
My Top 12 are the same with Keegan moved up to 4, Sharpe back behind Dyson, Duren back behind Eason. Really like Dyson. SImilar to Paolo, he needs to improve his 3 point shot, but is a very good creator from the wing. Not similar to Paolo, he looks like a defensive demon.
