I know pretty much nothing about college baseball but -- if academics are so important, how the hell did Berkman come out of Rice? He doesn't exactly have genius written all over him..

Berkman? The guy is very sharp. Have you ever heard his interviews? He's a very witty guy. Very well spoken. I'm shocked that you'd think otherwise.

Now, Ricky Williams, on the other hand...

Oh brother. Here comes coogfan Donny. Donny, any reasoned discussion about academics and sports at the collegiate level cannot include UH. UH graduated ZERO basketball players during the entire decade of the 80s. Wow.

Who said this was a reasoned discussion?

Berkman and Clemens are rocket scientists, y'all.

Oh yeah, and Hakeem Olajuwon and Clyde Drexler are both brain surgeons.

Don't you guys know anything? All hall of fame athletes are the most brilliant people alive.

(and texxx, as you always say, please provide some proof that graduation statistic please, I'm honestly interested)

tex, you still haven't tried to justify Rice's terrible MBA rankings.

LOL - the school is only 20 years old. With the resources available to it and the location of the school in a major city, I'm sure it will be tops in Texas in short order.

This discussion of B-schools makes me giggle. Last spring, I got my acceptance letter to UT (McCombs) while finishing my Rice (Jones) application. At that point, I didn't even bother to send in the Rice application, even though I had finished writing all the essays. And I'm from Houston, too. So, yeah, you're absolutely right, texxx: Academics DO matter. :)

I'm not going to sit here and defend one of Rice's newest graduate programs for you guys. 20 years old and it's already rising in the polls. In fact, in the Wall Street Journal poll, Rice has already overtaken UT-Austin in terms of MBA rankings!

I love how this thread has become a futile attack on Rice academics. That's a battle you'll lose every time. You guys crack me up in the way you keep coming back for more.

I love how all your threads become futile attacks on UT Athletics. That's a battle you'll lose every time. You crack me up in the way you get owned in almost every athletic thread on this board.

unless the thread is about ugly people with bad hygeine or academic quiz bowls, rice shouldnt even be mentioned. who cares about rice?

why are we talking about rice?

Great question. There's a lot of folks in this thread who can't bear to talk about the issue at hand of UT-Austin losing 10% of their baseball scholarships, so they seek to change the topic.

shrug.. your point being "just win baby?"

texas is a public school. things are done differently. i dont care if you think our university is win at all costs. texas is still one of the top public schools in the nation despite its negligence towards academics. im in the pharm school so i get a great education and i get to watch my school on tv winning national championships. it r00lz

U.S. News and World Report says otherwise.
    So does Business Week.
    So does Financial Times.
    So does The Economist.

But hey, texxx, by all means, please continue to quote the one publication that had Dartmouth (Tuck) 1st, Penn (Wharton) 5th, Harvard 14th, Stanford 15th, and NYU (Stern) 16th, because, golly gee, those rankings sure are accurate!
