NCAA doesn't think it's silly.. and the baseball team will be hurt when it isn't able to offer a full number of scholarships..
Odd that the NCAA scoring system (realeased in March '05) showed UT sports needing improvement, but the avg for UT was 2 points above the Div 1 avg. But has bt been consistently complaining about all of these other schools? All big 3 (Basketball, Baseball, Football) of A&M's sports fell far short of the NCAA banchmark. Has bt expressed a continued concern about A&M academics? No. Why? hmmm....
I agree that A&M needs to work on their graduation rates as well. This thread is about the Longhorn baseball team losing 1.7 scholarships, though. It's certainly timely news considering their NC that UT-Austin won last year. I love the comments from the horn fans that seem to indicate this doesn't matter. That just reinforces my belief about how little academics matter at UT-Austin as long as they win.
What is Rice's student athlete graduation rate as compared to that of the student body as a whole? I require this information for a study I am doing.
Sam, let's try to stay on topic. I've noticed a lot of upset/embarrassed horn fans try to bring up Rice to divert attention from their likely scholarship reduction due to academic nonperformance, but your request really does not contribute to the spirit of the thread.
No but it is invaluable to my current research project, which I am not able to disclose to you at the moment.
Brah, Don't you realize that these threads expose your inferiority complex re UT athletics just as clearly as your weight lifting sig revealed you're li'l d complex. You're giving Rice a bad name. Even though I'm a UT alum I've always had warm feelings towards Rice, since my big sister graduated from there. Many good memories of hanging with sis at Baker college bbqs and the Beer-Bike race. You're ruining these for me. Please stop. Thanks in advance.
Sam... from the last numbers I saw.. Rice overall 91%.. athletic 83% for a four-class average Texas 72% and 56% There is also an athlete success rate for both schools which is higher and doesn't count trasnfers against you... however that number doesn't make sense to use unless you also don't count transfers against the overall grad rate.
like i said...why don't you start reporting all the NCAA violations BY ALL THE SCHOOLS if you are so bothered by them? otherwise stop being a troll over UT. the only thing you ever post on is anti-UT stuff...maybe toss in another school every so often since you are sooooo concerned about "academics" and not bashing UT.
That's simply outrageous. If I were a non-athlete Rice student I would be up in arms about this. Really, is this the way that one separates one's self from Washington University of St. Louis, by letting a bunch of lunkheads lower the level of discourse?
believe me, many folks at Rice at outraged by the fact that we allow athletes in. That's another topic for another day, though. Sam, did you go to Wash U? That is a great school. I'd be surprised to hear that you went there.
samfisher.. it does rise to 93% if you don't count transfers against Rice.. but I don't know what the overall grad rate is if you don't count transfers..
That just reinforces my belief about how little graduate engineering and business matter at Rice: 2006 Engineering Graduate School Rankings Engineering Rankings #12. Oh brother. Baqui's inferiority complex has kicked in wrt academics. There's a reason US News ranks school considering all majors rolled up into one ranking. Get over it.
LOL Rice doesn't even have an undergraduate business school. Rice is a liberal arts school. They focus on a well rounded education. I'm sorry that your school isn't ranked as high as Rice.
